    Flavian Plateau
    A towering battlefield built to sate the public lust for bloodsport.

    4-8 Players


    Map Notes:

    The playable map area is relatively small for 8 players so that there will be constant battle and no time wasted looking for the fight.

    Supported gametypes:

    All standard gametypes except assualt, capture the flag, race and invasion.

    The Flavian Plateau is a colosseum built high in the sky designed for 4-man squad skirmishes.

    Armory

    Squads spawn below the colosseum floor in an armory, and facing a lift upwards.

    Armory contents:
    2 x Assualt Rifle - 2 extra clips, 10 second respawn;
    2 x Magnum - 2 extra clips, 10 second respawn;
    2 x Plasma Pistol - 10 second respawn
    1 x Plasma Repeater - 10 second respawn;
    1 x Spiker - 2 extra clips, 10 second respawn;
    1 x DMR - 2 extra clips, 15 second respawn;
    1 x Needle Rifle - 2 extra clips, 15 second respawn;
    1 x Frag Grenade - 5 second respawn;
    1 x Plasma Grenade - 5 second respawn;
    1 x Energy Sword - 180 second respawn.

    The 'Sand'

    The main area of the Flavian Plateau is a large octagonal platform with a lift column in the centre and a 'base' (or garage) at either end. The lift leaves players facing a ramp leading to a walkway around the colosseum which leads to the top of the team's garage. Four holes in the floor of the colosseum make for hazards for unweary players.

    The 'Sand' contents:
    1 x DMR - 2 extra clips, 30 second respawn;
    1 x Needle Rifle - 2 extra clips, 30 second respawn;
    1 x Assualt Rifle - 2 extra clips, 20 second respawn;
    1 x Plasma Repeater - 20 second respawn;
    2 x Frag Grenade - 10 second respawn;
    2 x Plasma Grenade - 10 second respawn;
    2 x Grenade Launcher - 4 extra clips, 60 second respawn.

    Garage

    Each garage can serve as minor protection for players with a shield door blocking entrance, however, enemies can throw grenades into the vents in the roof.

    Garage contents:
    1 x Warthog, default - 90 second respawn;
    1 x Ghost - 30 second respawn.

    This is the first map I've bothered to share with the community. I'm not sure whether it meets the same level of quality as other maps being uploaded to this site, and I sincerely apologise if it doesn't - To be honest I'm not even sure if I'll follow through and upload it or not at this point.

    Constructive criticism is preferred, but opinions are welcome too.
    Also - I'd like to know how you think this map stands up against the others that are uploaded here.

    It looks like an interesting concept and the forging looks solid. As for the design I have a few criticisms: there doesn't seem to be a way down to some of the spawning areas below so camping after gaining a decent lead seems exploitable. Also, camping the top of the lift also seems like it would be easy. To fix this, I would either get rid of the lowest levels or add ways down to them and more ways up. The vehicles look like they would be fun but also too dominant on this flat and open space, unless you have some heavy weapons to combat them that aren't hard for those respawing to access. Finally, the flat openness is a little bit of a problem. Try adding more height variation to spice it up, as well as more cover on the outer parts of the plateau. These are just some ideas for you to work with but you don't have to take them. I'd say you have enough skill with the forge that you should keep at it and finish the map, it just needs some work. I hope this is seen as constructive feedback.

    Thanks for the advice. I'll play around with a couple of teleporters and add a couple more areas of elevation and a rocket launcher to deal with vehicles. I'm very interested to get this map either playtested or reviewed but I'm not really sure how the process works and I don't know if I want to dive straight into it.

    On a side note - I had a look at your map 'Skyrise' and I'm really impressed - I was toying with the idea of a cityscape map myself but I wasn't sure how to pull it off - now I don't need to because you've already done it :p
