Hello again, hubbers of Forgetown. I am here today to present you with something that is not Full Life Consequences. Instead, it's a big team battle map pack! FlyingShoe ILR, Soul Slasher, Mockknizzle008, and I have all agreed to release our upcoming BTB maps as a map pack. they won't all be released at once, but over the course of a few weeks. We haven't decided the exact lineup yet, but the first map should be out in just a week or two. First we start with Flying Shoe's Embarcadero: Spoiler Next is Soul Slasher's Stone: Spoiler The next map on exhibit is my very own S: Spoiler My favorite part about BTB has always been warthog combat. However, most maps struggle to balance infantry and vehicles. This is where S shines. The map's focus is on a delicate balance between 'hogs and footsoldiers. If you're on foot, you can duck out of the way of a warthog, but it'll be back by the time you catch your breath. It's also noteworthy that infantry can cross the map in roughly the same ammount of time as warthogs if they cut through the tunnels. S is best played with staple big team gametypes such as Team Slayer, Capture the Flag, and Neutral Assault. Finally is Mocknizzle's Metropolis: Spoiler More info on the maps will likely be available prior to release. Enjoy the screenshots and discuss!
The only one I haven't played on yet is metropolis and I had a laggy 2 min experience on Stone. Looking forward to playing these.
I'm extremely excited about this (probably more because I just watched Avatar for the first time.) All of these maps are going to be pretty amazing, we need to get a lobby for the 4 going once they are all posted.
I loved S and Embarcadero.Stone looks quite intriguing in how it was designed, quite a new idea for BTB. A stone quarry is quite original unlike some of the other BTB maps out on FH. Looking forward to the final release of all of these maps.
Well this is very different. combing all 4 into 1 post. ill start with Embarcadero. -Embarcadero Pretty solid map. Although i felt like most of the attention was drawn to the intersection with the boat (lol) and the large braces. It was pretty balanced and i enjoyed it. -Stone Only played on it once, but the Aesthetics were really nice, especially for a btb map. Although i felt as though the base shown in the picture had less of an advantage, since theirs only 1 ghost, while the other base has a ghost and warthog. (From what i remember, correct me if im wrong) But other then that, it was fun while keeping somewhat of an aesthetic appeal. -S Probably played a good 6 or 7 games on this map. It held up nicely, especially for its unique shape. i had a blast playing this, but the occasional warthog betrayal did happen, due to the narrow paths, but not a big deal. Cant wait for final release, and hit me up if you need more testing. (Still waiting for the release of Scimitar ). -metropolis I have never played this, but from the screenshots it looks decent and should hold up nicely.
There is 2 ghosts (?) Anyway, now it has a wraith, 2 hogs, and 2 ghosts. Suprisingly, I'm glad you think it is fun and looks good.
I've played on Embarcadero and that was good fun. I liked how you managed to get vehicular and infantry combat balanced. The one of these four that I'm really looking forward to is Metropolis. That looks straight up awesome. I don't get to play enough good BTB (Matchmaking's sucks) since it's hard to get a 16 player custom party. I hope I'll be able to get some games on all of these in the future.
My theory is that he had to go pee the entire time but didn't want to leave. Or possibly drugs (jk). Anyways, I believe I have played on every single one one of these (thanks for putting up with my in game stupidity guys) except metropolis. They were all pretty good and metropolis doesn't look so bad itself. I'll probably end up dowloading all of these upon release.
Wow, I did not realize that you guys were releasing these as a map pack. I am really excited to see the final product on all of these. Embarcadero: Overall, a pretty solid map. I know when I played this the other day we tried out two versions, I would stick with the original. I have played several games on this and would have to agree that this is an objective map. It seems you have prefected the spawns for objective games, yet slayer spawns are another story. I had several bad spawns on outside mid(if you can understand that) and also watch several players materialize right in front of me. Therefor, I would either fix the slayer spawns, or sell this as an asymmetrical objective map like high ground. Stone: I personally have only had one game on this map, and I am still trying to process what I think about it. Because I have only had one game I am unsure of what power weapons are on the map to combat the tank. I personally never get in a tank, but I decided to try it out on this game and wrecked house. I believe I ended up having two overkills just in that game alone. Not sure if this is a problem or not. I guess more games will reveal just how powerful the tank really is. S: ahhh yes S. Well you already know that I adore this map. I have played countless games on this map, and each game has had some epic moments. What can I say, there are few completly original maps and this is one of them. My biggest complaint with this map would have been objective spawning, yet you and Nut went through and fixed it, and it seemed to work like a charm. Here would be my only two suggestions duck. First of all adding color to that side corner that I showed you. Second of all, moving the sticky grenades. Now, that you and Nut prefected the spawning system, that little safe spawn hole is used a lot, which is nto a bad thing. But I know that a good majority of the time I am going to spawn there, which means I will spawn on sticky grenades, which in my opinion, are a power weapon on this map. I can't count how many times I spawned, and then immediately picked up a sticky to have a warthog drive by two seconds later and stick them for an easy double kill. I never even had to move to get those double kills. So, I would address that Issue possibly. metropolis: Well, I have not been able to get a game on this bad boy. From the pictures it looks interesting, and it also looks like a Zanzibar rehash. I would love to get a game on this bad boy sometime!
I'm excited for embarcadero. The others look good too. Psycho, that offer is still open if you want some help with S. Shoe, I like the changes you've made, but theres still a tiny bit of disco from the back corner of both starting spawns in high stress situations. Soul, stone looks good but I'd like to see more of it and help in any way I can. Screw the neutral wraith. Have we learned nothing from boneyard. Knizzle, to be honest I didn't know you existed until now but I looks like you have quite a bit of experience making btb maps. I don't know if it was on purpose but there are some things just from the picture that are indicative of a great btb style map. The same offer as for soul stands.
Would you guys be interested in putting together a big group test of your map pack plus my current project? Most of y'alls are on my friends list anyway and if we all got together at the same time, that's a good chunk of the amount of people we would need. I was thinking about late this week (maybe Thursday night) or this weekend (like Saturday night).
You mean the awesome cartoon show and not the one with the shitty blue people, right? OT: There's a tank on Stone now??
Actually yes, the blue people, though the show was amazing and overall better just because of the long, in depth story. Plus I had watched the 55 minute Bungie Vi Doc right after too. And a Skyrim Trailer that day. I was very excited after all that. The tank on Stone is a Wraith, not a Scorpion, and it is not overpowered as someone mentioned earlier. I am keeping the newer version of Embarcadero, as it proved much better after a few more tests on flag. Spawns are almost perfect there, all I am trying is removing the weak zone from red base to see what happens. Slayer spawn is like this- I had a dynamic system set up (using 10+ strong zones) when I switched over to MrGreen's method and placed one over the whole map. While this works alright, I may try re-implementing the system for a few tests, as spawns were a little better for slayer then. Nut, we will be doing testing pretty often, but a scheduled test would be good as well, though we do have Berb's Monday BTB Customs too. Anyways Bark'y (NOT CANNON NAME!!!!!) will be out in 2-3 weeks... I think, so who knows, it might be first or second, I know Metropolis is pretty much ready.
The wraith on Stone is NOT I will repeat, NOT overpowered. You have to be lucky to get maybe five kills. The two plasma launchers, rocket, two nade launchers, and the loads of plasma grenades are plenty to combat it. Nutduster, either of those days late night is good for me. And i am sorry ociee.
Metropolis is basically ready to rock, I just need to see about setting up another gametype or two...
