Just have to say the recent concept lynx posted looks like it could fit perfectly on the montana side of the alaska/montana gap. Teams starting at the edge of the cliff basically above the beach, making there way through the pass having to open various invasion gates that are built more like barricaded walls as in the concept. The tower could then be set at the raised portion of montana or the center of the cliff perhaps hovering over the gap itself. Thats just to give some slight idea to a realistic area to place the concept. Montana Gambit map from BTB has some unique takes as well on that area of forgeworld. I love how you can take simple ideas and make them look very well Lynx good job .
Hey lynx. You told me to think of an idea for you in-game, so here it is. I am planning to make Besieged's predecessor. My idea would be a BTB map containing the previous structure, as seen here. I would like water features, as well. Outside, would be long LoS's and inside buildings would be medium. Note the center courtyard must be on the strip of beach in ForgeWorld, so think of that for size. The center of the map would be sectioned off for FFA play. A layout map sort of drawing. If you can, reserve a space for my waterfall in a wall. ... my head hurts now. Wish you luck with all of your drawings!
I've sort of stopped doing concept art for this thread because no one was really making maps based on the ideas...I kinda just got bored and, not to mention, extremely busy with other things in life. Maybe I'll revisit it later, but for now it's safe to say there won't be any concept art posted here for a while.
wow. This is great. I think this is a great way to do 2 things. 1) get some practice in for your real projects, and 2) help out the community. This is how I work on developing my maps, drawing a rough sketch first, then diving into the forge. I'm currently working on a map that combines aspects from Rat's nest and Heretic. I've got the outer 'track' done, but i'm stumped for an area that will give players a chance to fight on foot and merge well with some primary bases. I'm experimenting with a multi leveled infantry area, but it's come out horribly. I'd love to show my ideas, but I only have some rudimentry experience with C+ and C++, which dosn't help at all. Got any ideas on how to merge the two? A Written response is good too.
Would you want to concept art for an existing map I've made as a preview for it? Haha. That'd be pretty awesome.
