If you're like me (or most of the other people on forge hub) you probably aren't the biggest fan of Headhunter. I truly hate it in many maps, being forced to run skulls halfway across the map and only winning by a lucky cleanup. Overall, most maps don't work for Headhunter.

Styx is not most maps. Styx is a 2-4 player map designed to make Headhunter much more fun by fixing many of its frustrating issues, and by implementing some interesting changes to normal map structure.

Styx is a very small symmetrical map with a "bottomless pit" running through the middle. There are 3 bridges across this pit as well as many tac jumps over it. The pit plays into Slayer but becomes the focal point in Headhunter when the pit becomes the score point, forcing players to score either in a dangerous crossing of the center bridge, a jump across the pit using either sprint or a tac jump, or with a tactical suicide (Flamingo's favorite move.)

As the hill is so big, you are never far from scoring, helping to remove the system of getting a skull and then finding the hill too far away to survive to. The sloped surface on either side of the pit also makes cleanup kills more difficult, as skulls must be caught before they roll in. Finally, the hill moves every so often, making it disappear for 3 seconds before coming back, which is something to pay attention to when suicide scoring.

Here are my wonderful pictures. Was that sarcasm?

Styx's aesthetics are heavily based on the shadow temple from Ocarina of time (Soul Slasher and I started our Zelda themed maps around the same time.) The bridges look like the Lens of Truth from the opposite side, and the pit idea was based on the point where the ship sinks near the final boss room. If you haven't played it yet, do yourself a favor and buy it on virtual console or 3DS, it's well worth it.

    Weapon List:
    1-Conc Rifle-0 spare clips
    2-Plasma Rifle-N/A
    2-Spiker-0 spare clips
    4-DMR-1 spare clip
    2-NR-1 spare clip
    2-Magnum-2 spare clip
    2-Plasma Grenades
    2-Frag Grenades
    4-Healthpacks

Lastly, this is a very CQC oriented map, so either DMR starts or AR starts will be fine; it's really up to which play style you prefer. Most gametypes are on a dynamic spawn, so don't be confused if you spawn in the opposite base at some point, a static spawn would have just been too predictable. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy it!

    Thanks to-
Soul Slasher X- For the awesome hands and other piece across from them
Confused Flamingo- Help with testing/ strong feedback
The Psycho Duck- Probably did something
    Th3 Equin0x- Testing
Many other testers from forge hub whose names currently escape me

    Eightball- Testing ;)

Anyways, I remember playing this quite a few times with you and Soul Slasher and I recall this map to be perfect for HH and was extremely fun with just 3 people. While the map is somewhat bland and gray, the creativity and aesthetic features make up for it greatly, along with its great gameplay.

I remember you gave me leader after we played a game on this and I just started it right back up again- That's how fun it was. I would really like to play this again with you and some more-than-three people.

Oh btw, the 'Hands' are damn sexy.

    Great work, man.

Oooh its this map. I remember seeing a preview a while ago and liking the central pit. Aesthetics are simple yet look awesome. Layout looks excellent, you got some nice subtle elevation changes going on. Yeah, downloaded. Sweet map!

I pictured that in the Full lLfe Consequences' narrator voice, and it was awesome.

And yes, i totally did do something, thank you very much. I actually did multiple somethings.

This map is cool, nothing special, but it is a nice appetizer for the almost ready, steaming-hot dish that is Embarcadero. Headhunter was pretty cool on here, and it was an all-around good map. I also think Zelda inspirations are pretty cool.

Hooray, It's finally posted! Anyway, i love this map and headhunter works well. I don't know how you made the most horrid gametype awesome, but it is awesome. Ima say awesome again. Awesome.

Shadow temple is the best, but it is a biatch on masterquest. Ah well, Styx isn't (a biatch, it is awesome).

However I didn't Play HH, I would like to. But this was a really interesting design, lots of really cool aethetics and Ocarina Of Time might possibly be the greatest game of all time!

i would say i liked this map, but everytime we played on this map you kicked my ass so its a thumbs down from me.

i cant let my incompatence as a gamer affect my desicion, the map i think should be run on bungies servers as a stand-alone, running nothing but headhunter.

We played a game on here today without you, and it went pretty well. However, about halfway through the match went from a 3v3 to a 4v4, which does not work too well on this map. Someone said the spiker spawned too fast, but I wasn't too bothered.

4 v. 4 on Styx is like 8 v. 8 on Cargo Port; I'm sure it's fun but... totally not made for it. Styx is really 2-4 players, even 3 v. 3 is a lot. Spikers are on 80 second respawn, which is ususlly good with less people.
