Originally commissioned by the Illusive Man to assist in Commander Shepard's fight against the Collectors, The Normandy SR2 was claimed by the Human Systems Alliance. Designed from the plans of the original SSV Normandy SR1, The SR2 is nearly twice the original's size. The ship has five decks, comprising of a cockpit, a CIC, a lab, an armory, crew deck, two observation decks, crew quarters, a reactor, two cargo bays, a hangar, and more. A little backstory about the map: I decided to make this because of something that was more or less a perfect storm: my friend decided to finally give the Mass Effects a try. Needless to say, he loved them. So, when we went into Reach to see if there were any decent Normandy models in Reach, we had only found one that stood out(the one by Noble1120, which essentially taught me my current style of shipbuilding), but it was a little small. We had also recently found a glitched map that allowed ridiculous amounts of doors, windows, and walls to be generated. He challenged me to make the best damn Normandy I could make. I accepted, and what I have now is the final result. Now, I've either succeeded or failed spectacularly. Either way, it is spectacular in my book. Building the ship: I started building the ship from the inside out, focusing on making sure every room in the actual ship got in, with a close approximation to the actual layout of the ship. This lead to some slight rescaling to make sure the inside synchronized up with the exterior of the ship(bioware is pretty bad at making them match). This building practice led to a dual-layer building structure that is uncommon in forge shipbuilding practices. I had to press the exterior plates down from their original position to make the ship look less bloated. Unfortunately, it was just a matter of time before I ran out of resources, which was the main concern instead of budget this time around. This lead to holes and a lack of detail that I am still addressing. Expect updates.
This map is ****. Haha, jk good job. -Phoenix. Note to mods before you give me an infraction: I know this guy.
I don't come on much and when I do I usually get infractions so I just don't post. Well, I'll talk to you on DP so I don't get an infraction.
Your forging style has quite some reach and flexibility there. The interior looks especially great. I wish the exterior was a little more smooth, but awesome job! One of the best (and few) Normandy's I've seen.
The tails on the exterior and the Hangar could use some work, but overall I am just happy to see the Normandy! Good work, though I would like to see this polished.
A little fat on the outside, but man the interior is spot on. I think maybe the wings are just a tad too small, proportionally. Very good attention to detail, excellent work!
