So there is a lot of chat out on the web about the new and upcoming halo 4. since we are a community of forgers I wanted to get feed back on what things you guys would like to see in the new Forge engine that 343 will be developing for Halo 4. Here are a few of my ideas and some I have read on other sites:

First off I think Halo 4 should be a 1 or a 2 disk option with Forge being the second disk. I know so many people who never have used forge and don't care anything about it other than to play custom games that we have created. Make the 2 disk option a little more expensive (10 bucks maybe). The reason I say this is because I want a super robust Forge for making ridiculous maps. and I would like them to use the whole disk for space.

So for new forge features I want a link or group objects feature feature! If that's all I got I might be happy. Additionally I want to be able to copy already grouped objects.

For instance if I am building 4 team specific bases I don't want to have to build each one individually knowing there will be slight variations in each of them. Give us the ability once objects are in place to link them together so that an entire structure can be moved instead of piece by piece. And then the ability to copy the structure and place its copy on another part of the map.

Weather and terrain. What if instead or filters you could just enter a custom setting. like: Precipitation, Time, Wind, Temperature, and so on.
Additionally if we had more natural peices. like: Rocks, Trees, Bushes, water, and grass.

Better colors and styles. Not colors like the current "outlines" in forge. If you could make a 5x5 flat completely blue or a covenant designed wall.

Map with various terrains. I miss sand and snow from H3. Also I would love to have a jungle or heavily wooded area to build in.

Vehicles. I'm not super picky but why cant we have forklifts and stuff. Any driveable vehicle in the campaign should be in forge.

Animals? May sound dumb but think about how cool a custom game might be if you had MOA running all over the map while you fight.

Anyways. Just wanted to get feedback for what you guys might want to be able to do in the future.

You should be able to add animations, or actions to objects. Instead of trying to come up with a way just to create timed events or triggered actions, there should be an entire system in place where you can make an object cycle this way, or this explodes, or an elevator system. I don't know, just something a little more advanced. Halo Reach's Forge system was far superior to Halo 3's (although I have to say that I enjoyed 3's far more, and I don't know why). But I am excited to see what they do with it, (if they do something with it, that is.)

On a side note, I think that the idea of it coming on an entirely separate disc is a little bizarre, I mean, sure it takes up space, but those discs hold like what, 8GB? Take out the partitioning and that's only 6.8GB. But still, I'm sure they don't need that much space. What we should do for the next system is throw the DVD's in the trash and make a new disc that holds more than 6.8GB of space for games. Microsoft is doing trials on the dashboard to see if they can change it to read more game partitioning- a whole 1GB more. Not that impressive, especially when you look at Blu-ray discs that hole up to 25GB, or even 50GB for dual layer ones. Let's see some improvement in that area.

Guys, seriously, just wait. There has been NO information revealed on Halo 4's forge yet. Until any information relating to forge is released, keep all Halo 4 discussion in the Halo 4/Halo CEA thread.

    LOCKED.
