    ANCHORAGE

A pristine city alongside an iridescent ocean.

Ever since the Noble Map Pack came out, I've wanted to build a map on Tempest. I mean, what's there not to like? Absolutely beautiful scenery, great performance, really nice lighting, and just an overall excellent map with tons of Forging potential. I guess I don't like the excessive use of invisible walls, but that's it.

Not many people have Forged an Invasion experience on Tempest, so I thought, why not? It would be a nice way to finish off the summer before school starts. So after around two days of building, the first playable version of Anchorage was done.

I'm planning on making this map compatible with all, or most, gametypes, including stuff like Slayer, CTF, Assault, and Infection. However, its recommended gametype will be Invasion.

The map itself focuses on urban combat within the Covenant-controlled city. A fighter ship has crashed right in the middle of the city, and local human military in the area have focused on getting the intelligence within the fighter ship back from Covenant hands. They must first take the water filtration systems out on the city outskirts and then proceed into the city itself.

this looks amazing, i love the idea of making an invasion map on tempest. however i would like to see the city a bit more destroyed, being that there was a battle over this city before, its not like the unsc just gives there city's to the covenant. i would also like more picures. oh yeah, sign me up for testing please.

I'm not very good at making destroyed structures, but I definitely like the idea. I'll certainly try it out. Feel free to send me an FR if you want to help me test sometime.

    This looks really nice...
Forging on tempest is difficult because the premade bases can often get in the way but it appears you have pulled it off just fine

Thanks! The premade bases are a haggle to work around, but I think the sheer amount of invisible walls are more of a problem, especially around the creek area.

I looked at this in forge with some friends yesterday. our initial impression was "ooh, the crashed Longsword looks really cool in here!" Unfortunately, other than that the map looked generic at best. The "buildings" made of stacked 4x4 blocks looked lame, and it looked like gamepaly would be pretty boring as well. It just doesn't look like an exciting invasion experience at all. I do have to give you credit for building on tempest though, even if this will prevent you from ever getting as much testing as you really need for an invasion map.

Okay, I can see where you're coming from on that. Do you think I should try to vary the type of architecture used? Maybe a larger variety of decorative structures?

Spicing up the look of the structures could definitely help. Maybe you could make it look like the Longsword scraped across the top of a building before crashing? I still think that what it really needs is to have a more interesting layout within the city portion of the map.

A more interesting layout and more space, the city just felt cramped and overall small for an invasion map.
