So I've been working on a massive invasion map. It's been at least 15 hours so far, and I haven't even gotten to weapon placements :/
Anyway, I can see it in my forge world map list, but it has the description of another [now deleted] map. When I try to load it up, it manages to bring back the deleted map and I am completely locked out of my invasion one. Help!

    You may have lost it.

I tend to always load a different canvas before loading a new FW map for editing, just to avoid these kinds of problems. (Loading a different canvas unloads the previous canvas and clears the system cache of all maps that were loaded while the canvas was loaded.)

I also learned from someone here that when you Save As New Map, you need to change the description as well as the filename to avoid this kind of problem. The filename does not define the map in a unique way, but the description does. This is why you can have uniquely different copies of a map with the same name, if they have different descriptions.

And the one that got me recently was I was editing a FW map, then i loaded the FW canvas to make a new map and when I left Forge without saving it with a new name, it stored the new map over the one I edited prior to it. That was an eye opener. So now i load a different canvas, then load the FW canvas to start a fresh new map, and immediately save it to a new map filename when I get into Forge.

Ya I have had this problem before, it sucks when you loose a map. I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try to find the map in your recent history. If it is still there, then theoretically you should be able to load it up in forge and then save it. You may want to try this, I can't promise anything though.

This has worked for me. I'm embarrassed to say that I've FREAKED out thinking I lost something, until I found this out.

Eh, I'll try to find it, but I suppose it might be for the best. Gives me a chance to repolish everything. Or something :/

As long as you have not played a ton of games since the overwrite it should still be in your recent history. Don't give up yet!

Try loading up a map besides fw, then try your map again.

Saved me before it has :)
