Like most of my maps, this one started out as a completely different idea. I started trying to build a map that was divided into two bases, connected in the middle by 5-6 teleporters (the bases would be in completely separate places in Forge World. I scrapped that idea about 6 minutes after finishing red base. Then, I built a large central section at the edge of red base, which would become the central tree. I was about to scrap the tree as well, and then I made it pretty so I built from there. The title for the map came from the daily challenge a while back, and I just liked the image the title portrayed in my mind. I only have 1 pic right now, it's of the central 'tree' Edit: Added more now. Sorry, half the map wasn't even completed yet when I took that, I probably should've just waited to post the preview. Assault Rifle spawn at the bottom edge of Red (upper) Base. DMR spawn at Blue (lower) Base DMR spawn at the top of red base. Most of Red Base, shows the general downward slope of the upper base and its relation to the Central area. one of the longer lines of sight from red base, allows red base to use DMR's effectively. (This type of LoS is repeated in blue base, it's mostly to keep the grenade launcher in check.) The lower part of blue base, shows the plasma repeater spawn, which is repeated in red base. Overview (kind of crappy, again, my apologies) of blue base. Cover at the topmost edge of blue base. Blue team's Plasma/frag grenade spawn. Blue team's magnum spawn, it's beneath the large brace. This is repated in the opposite corner for red base. Grenade launcher spawn (bottom right) and view of half of the central area. Just a better picture of the central focal point of the map. Hopefully those are more to your liking. And, because I failed earlier, a bit more info on what I'm planning with the map: It is an asymmetrical slayer map, with both red base and blue base centered around the tree. The central tree area is an open area, housing 2 Magnums, a grenade launcher and 2 grenades. Also on the map are 2 DMR's, 2 AR's, and 2 plasma repeaters. Although right now I've only made it as a slayer map, I'll most likely continue to build and add in asymmetrical objective gametypes like assault.
you're gonna need more than one screenshot to create any sort of interest in a map. You've hardly provided any information about it either. Is he map symmetrical? Is it a 4v4? A 2v2? What's the ayout like? Etc.
there's a liiiittllle bit of information xD the room shown in the picture is "at the edge of red base" jeah, like duck said, you gotta take some MOAR screenshots or describe your plan for the layout^^ the "tree" looks really good though
Sorry, more pictures added. And the tree has been improved, I think. I added a few extra tweaks that made it feel a bit more treelike.
Your not helpful nuff said OT : Yea that challenge was a Blitch and well hard anywho you have a promising layout and you should add some cover to some areas just for a bit of survivability like a root came out and stuff kk. there is my review of your Preview
I can't believe I hadn't thought of roots. Thanks, I'll try to implement that idea in the final version.
Has anyone tested? Im interested in doing so, but at the same time hesitant. If anyone is gona do a custom on this invite me GT: Lannders and hopefully my poor connection lets me join
I haven't had it tested yet, I'm still working on fixing up all of the spawns, and adding in a few objective variants. I'll let you know though when I get around to testing.
Check the last image. They're already there. I just couldn't move them too low because then the flags are visible and kind of kill the aesthetic.
Yeah I meant at the bottom covering the roots, but they do look good up there. Makes it feel more...Tree-ish.
Yeah... I already have the rocks around the base of the tree, I don't think the grass would fit in as well. The rocks already take up most of the space around the base. /rhymes Plus I'm already using all of the tin cups at the top of the tree, so I'd have to sacrifice the aesthetics up top to improve the ones on the bottom, which already look pretty good IMO.
