----THE "KEEP AWAY" GAME TYPE GOES WITH THE MAP "PLAYGROUND".----

    MAP: PLAYGROUND

Playground is a rocky battlefield with some areas of grass made for 'Keep Away'.

Two-teamed games have players spawn on opposite sides of the map against the 2 walls.

FFA games have players spawn all along the walls and any where around the map.

Multi-team games have players spawn against all 4 walls.

    GAMETYPE: KEEP AWAY

Keep Away is a FFA and/or team played KOTH variant that features it's static hill as a ball.

The idea is move the ball around the map, keeping the ball away from the other team/players.

There are a total of 3 loadouts. Here are the 2 standard loadouts:

    SPRINT
Includes a Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword, both with infinite ammo.
    No Grenades.

    EVADE
Includes a Gravity Hammer and Energy Sword, both with infinite ammo.
    No Grenades.

The third loadout is called Guard:

    GUARD
    Includes only a grenade launcher.
    No armor ability.
    No grenades.

Although the guard loadout has the grenade launcher, a great mid/long ranged weapon, it has no armor ability. Missing out on Sprint and Evade leaves you slow to getting to the ball. Though Guard may not be the best choice for FFA games, it definitely plays a huge strategic roll in team games.

It's long range lets you defend your friends as they Sprint away with the ball.

Also, Guard is great for stopping the other team from running far away with the ball.

If you use guard enough, you might rule all around with it.

Ricocheting grenades off the wall to take out a charging enemy leaves you feeling untouchable.

Team games are all about strategy.

In FFA games: the better, and slicker, man wins.

Download the game type 'Keep Away' and the map 'Playground', grab a few friends, and try it yourself.

Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks!

This is a great map and idea, you could of done a bit more with the aesthetics but the gameplay looks great.

Don't those 2 lights in the centre of the map combined with a moving object cause massive framerate issues at the start of games? I'd either get rid of the lights, or move one to each side, as they don't serve a purpose there anyway. Also my OCD sense is telling me the blue light is closer to the ball than the red light.

Maybe make another variant with a non-static hill and 3 balls?

I've been play testing this a lot with friends and no there is no frame rate problem for us.

As for the lights, they're only there on team games. They mark the side of which the team spawns. It's just decoration but I think it makes the map look better.

And yeah I'll probably post a lot of fun variations of Keep Away later after more play testing.

    Thanks for your input

This is the first time I have seen the ball be used as the hill. I think the aesthetics are good too. How many teams can this support and do those teams have to be a certain color? I ask because I have played a few maps where if you didn't pick the same color that the map creator used for the spawn points then the whole team would load outside the map and die. I hope to see more maps with this game type. Good work!

Looks interesting, but aesthetics a little stale, gameplay is all it matters.

Thanks! Yeah you can use a total of 6 teams: Every color EXCEPT PINK AND BROWN, the map isn't big enough to have anymore.

As for the aesthetics: Yeah I didn't want to have too much going on because otherwise it'll interfere with the gameplay.

    Thanks again

Hey this is unrelated to Keep Away, but on my last three maps I haven't been able to get the thumbnail image to work. I used photobucket to resize the image so it's small but it still won't show up. Does the image have to be the exact size of the thumbnail box or something? I used the [IMG]
