OK I know im gonna sound really dumb for asking this especially since I've been forging for awhile but, what are all these map types. Symmetrical, Urban, etc. I dont get it at all! Will someone please help me out? Im lost!
Symetrical = The map has 2 bases that are the same Urban = The map's aesthetics are based off the looks of cities Asymetrical = The map has two bases, but they are not the same.
Thanks for those, but I was browsing Forge Hub and saw casual, competitive, and MLG. I get the general idea(casual-relaxed, competitive-well, competitive, and MLG- major league gaming) but I dont fully understand the differences
You've pretty much already answered it. Casual is infection and more laid back Slayer games, and Invasion and btb and such. Competitive is usually just your basic 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 and 6v6 slayer and objective games, usually built just for competitiveness. MLG has it's own game variant, and the maps are usually quite different. They'd also be counted as Competitive.
Invasion and btb are casual now? Casual is for games that are not competitive at all. BTB and invasion are extremely competitive if people choose to play as such.
Ya, but what do you call competitive? Infection IMHO is competitive, because you score with kills, just like slayer. The only difference is that the teams are ever changing. That is really the only difference.
how do u post ur maps on forgehub ok right now im pissed off i am trying the best infection map i ever made but i have no idea ho to someone pplease help
Competitive can be defined by the quality of the map as well. For example, Of Legions is most definitely competitive, as it is a balanced map for each team and is a generally balanced, complex map. Similarly, an unbalanced slayer, infection, or invasion map would be considered casual. AD records invasion map Promethious is casual, while Invasion: Summit is most definitely Competitive. Urban, however, is a theme, and can be describing any city-like map.
