    Bank 2x2 Forge Contest Submission

Hey guys, Im back with another map, this one being for the 2x2 Forge Contest. Its a simple, small, symmetrical map that caters for all Slayer, King of the Hill, Oddball, Headhunter and Juggernaut gametypes, (as nothing much else will really work on it, due to its size). It is intended only for a minimum of 2 players, max 4, but you may be able to squeeze a 5 player FFA out of it, and 6 players would be insane, but entirely possible.

Given the extreme constraints of the competition, there wasnt much I could do for it aesthetically, but I tried to make it as interesting as possible with different shapes and angles, whilst maintaining maximum frame rate (so no lights). And cover is not an issue with this map, as there are good LoS positions, but plenty of places to hide. I managed to add 5 different levels to this map, the high ground areas are very small, so camping is hard, while the main play area is large (large enough for the intended player count, anyway) with good escape points and cover.

Weapons wise, I wanted a set that complimented the tight play style of the map, without making anything too overpowered. There is only one power weapon (Concussion Rifle), but its ammo supply is greatly reduced and spawn timer high as to not make it unfair for other players. There are two ranged weapons (DMR, Needle Rifle), two mid-ranged weapon (Needler, Magnum) and one, what I consider to be CQC weapon (Plasma Pistol).

There is only one health kit on this map, and its smack bang in the middle of the map with nothing surrounding it, so going for health is a bit of a gamble, which promotes more life-preserving methods (unless youre a Rambo).

    Weapons

    1 x Magnum (30sec) 1 x Plasma Pistol (30sec) 4 x Frag (45sec)
    2 x Plasma Grenade (60sec) 1 x Needler (60sec) 1 x Health Kit (60sec)
    1 x DMR (90sec) 1 x Needle Rifle (90sec) 1 x Concussion Rifle (160sec)

Red spawn (middle level). Blue is same, but mirrored, so no image required. The path leading underneath the spawn area is the lowest level.

Bottom pathway. The grav-lift shoots you up in the middle of the map...

...here. Some maneuvering required to get yourself to the ledge.

Action shot, just for the hell of it. This spot is around the centerpiece, home to the Needler.

Thats about all. Wont be changing anything about this map until after the weekend of the 17th (end of contest), if I decide to change anything, that is. If anyone has any suggestions however, feel free to post them. Cheers!

I finally got a chance to play on this the other day, and while it was not perfect, it was definitely enjoyable. I don't really like the cat and mouse that went on in king of the hill, due to objects being in the hill, but it wasn't as bad as some. I had a couple of.... whoopsies... with the grav lift, but that's just due to my inability to maneuver properly when using them. I'm surprised to be the first poster here, but at the time there were a few 2x2 entries coming through. I hope to see another one of your maps soon and possibly forge sometime.

Lol, whoopsies. Thanks man, I honestly wasn't expecting any replies to this, but thought I'd post it in competitive anyway just so I had a thread to link to in my sig. As for being surprised about being the first poster? I think that's because all the people who downloaded it probably did so from the 2x2 Contest thread, and had no idea about this thread.

Either way, at least it got some DLs. Thanks for the comments, though I should mention that I had very limited testing on this map. By limited, I mean one game, with a friend, on splitscreen, so it wasn't a very in-depth session, and my friend was being a **** and jerking around because he wanted to play Snipers. Anyway, thanks for the comments, and expect to see some more maps soon..ish. Got a few ideas swirling around, plus my submission for the $5000 Comp coming. Dont get your hopes up, though. ;)

Oh, one question, how'd the spawns work?
