Pac-Man Created by Jooostan Map Description Based on the classic game Pac-Man! There are two gametypes which I have modified for this map variant: Pac-Man!- This is as close to the classic gameplay of Pac-Man I could fathom.. if Pac-Man had a shotgun and the ghosts had swords. ** NOTE: This gametype has been updated: Now easier to tell when you are no longer empowered by power pellet: you have roughly 3 seconds left after pink bar fills to 100%. Basically, when your shields go away, so does your powerup, and you are vulnerable again. Recommend replacing older version with this one. Pac-Man Tank!- This is the Juggernaut variant of Pac-Man. Who is the deadliest Pac-Man?! Super fun. Map and Game Modification I've added Custom Powerups to serve as power pellets, and by modifying the players' gravity, I've made sure only Pac-Man has the ability to access them. The ghosts (zombies) cannot power up. The gravity change also prevents everyone from jumping over the walls. The ghosts run slightly faster than you, but if you (as Pac-Man) play smart, you can gain the power ups which allow you to run faster & hit harder. This only lasts for 10 seconds however. While powered up, Pac-Man is also invulnerable, however, 10 seconds goes quicker than you may think amidst the chaos. Hilarious too, because the ghosts always run away when you get it, just like in the real Pac-Man. It is easy to tell when you are no longer "empowered": Normally, you have no shields, however, when you get the power pellet your shields charge up to 3x (pink or red, depending on your tv's color setting I guess). Upon a fully charged 3rd shield, you have 3 seconds left of your power. So basically, when your shields disappear, you are vulnerable again. **NOTE: The powerups only apply to the "Pac-Man!" gametype. They do not show up for "Pac-Man Tank!"** I've made sure no one can camp the teleports by adding soft kill-zones. I've also made it to where the ghosts respawn in the box, and eliminated spawn killing by giving them 3 seconds of invulnerability upon respawning. Speaks for itself, doesn't it? How it appears when playing with the Pac-Man Tank! gametype Special thanks to all the outside testers: Son of Sek666, Drothashow, Deerslayer4390, EliteCarnivore5, Douglas Vance, WINDOWBREAKER88, and any others I may have missed. Extra special thanks to Fuzzball for giving me the idea. "Someone should make a Pac-Man map. I think that would be fun." - theFuzzball 00 ATTENTION: The following have been updated as of 8/4/11. I don't think your map is up to standards, you may want to add a better description and at least three pictures, and from what I can see, it looks like all the other pac-man maps. You should spice it up a little with some aesthetics.
If only we can set the camera not to be third person so its a birds eye view. Then give the spartans more speed. That would be so fun
Standards, you need to have ATLEAST one picture, and a well writen description. The map looks great and has a feel to the old arcade game, man those were the days, has my DL, and I think you should add a little more and you really don't need to add aesthetics because it is infection, people are not going to be looking at the aesthetics, they will be running.
Thank you Grunt Hunter. I did take his advice though, and I've added a couple more pictures and a more detailed description. I hope this will help everyone better understand the mechanics of the map.
I like it, but the only thing I can think about is not having to jump to get the powerup, and while anyone is playing this, Pac monster should join the game and start playing the theme to pac man
If you can tell me how to make the powerups unaccessible by the zombies, then let me know. I tried setting the powerups to only work for the spartan, but the zombies could still pick it up. Placing them right above your head and removing the zombie's jump was the only way I could think of that would prevent the zombies from getting the powerups.
It sounds like an interesting game. I will have to try it out. I do think you could have added way more detail though.
First of all bro this is, if not a particularly original idea, a very well executed one and I cannot wait to play this game with a coupla friends! Secondly, you have just given me an inspired idea involving Zombies, Safe Havens, Soft Kill Zones and Pac-Man Rage Mode which I intend to experiment with as soon as possible.
Thank you for the feedback. Trust me, the more friends that join, the more insanely fun it is. And yes, I have heard from several people I should add more detail. Being based on Pac-Man though, and Pac-Man isn't the most detailed of games... I'm admittedly at a loss as to what to add. I'll have to experiment. And this Pac-Man Rage Mode certainly sounds interesting lol. [br][/br]Edited by merge: The Pac-Man! gametype has been updated as of 8/2/11. Please refer to original post for additional details.
