Ever wondered where some of the forge objects came from. Well some of them came from Halo 2 Multiplayer maps and Halo 3 Campaign. Here is a list of items from the past: Large Walkway: (location) Halo 3- The Ark, the bridge inside the containment wall. Strut: (location) Halo 2- Colossus, Coagulation. Teleporter Frame: Halo 2- Headlong, Beaver Creek, Coagulation. Sniper Nest: Halo 2- Ascention. Platform Y Large: Halo 2- Ascention. Tower 2 Story: Halo 2- Ascention. Room Triple: Halo 2- Lockout. Tower 3 Story: Halo 2- Lockout. Bunker Box: Halo 2- Sanctuary. Block 1x1 Small and Thin: Halo 2- Sanctuary. Pyramid: Halo 2- Sanctuary. Tunnel Short: Halo 2- Sanctuary. Cover: Halo 2- Sanctuary Coagulation. Cover Crenilation: Halo 2- Sanctuary, Coagulation. Glass Sail: Halo 2- Warlock. Door: Halo 2- Warlock. Room Double: Halo 2- Lockout. If you have any more then tell me. I hope this helps with remakes.
Pretty cool. I have never thought about piece history before. I'd love to see comparison pics of the two, but I just don't have the time to put that together right now.
This doesn't surprise me too much, Bungie most likely looked to their past games for inspiration. Good job putting a specific place for each piece though.
A friend of mine was studying Forerunner architecture recently. I joined him for a little while and saw some texture reuse. Here're some of the things I noticed. The texture used on the upper panel of the Brace, Large... A narrower version of it is visible on walls seen in Construct and Guardian. Railing pieces are used in Construct, but not as railings. They're arranged behind a glass wall, and almost resemble some kind of machinery. The textures on the sides of ramps (elongated black in-pointing triangles) can be seen on the sides of ramps in Construct and, IIRC, Guardian. The redesign for Teleporter nodes seems to have been taken directly from Cold Storage. The ribbed part of a Walkway Large Cover bears similarities to slotted pillars from that map.
Well, bungie made most of these objects to create their "remakes". You are able to "forge" most of lockout out of only a couple of parts because most of the structures are already there.
The long face of the brace, large is also in Halo 3's Citadel. I didn't think to be as thorough as that. I'll go into Halo 3 and 2 and see what else is back from those games.
