Wow. I was going to do something like this but it was going to be a ship in the sky. Anyway very good! 5/5 for the interlocking so It is a download from me.
Yea i was kinda worried about that too but it didn't really hurt gameplay. Objective games is the only time I saw camping with a shotgun and a few grenades made quick work of those pesky players around corners. The shotgun only has one extra clip and it doesn't spawn very often. The main hallway has glass walls so you can see who is lurking there pretty easy. Sure it was a judgment call but I haven't seen the shotgun dominate the level yet... so I'm sticking with it.
To be honest, I really like the idea behind the map's construction. The juicy filter works perfectly, and the map looks amazing. However, gameplay is somewhat limited for two reasons. 1) The map is designed in a "linear" fashion, meaning that there is only one way into and out of each base. Generally, that isn't a good thing, as it can create massive choke points as well as spawn camping, which isn't good for SWAT. 2) The map doesn't have a roof, and has a Brute Shot. In case you aren't aware, it is possible to use the Brute Shot and Fuel Rod Cannon in such a manner to allow someone to jump a height of approximately two Foundry boxes, three with the assistance of equipment like a Power Drain/Jammer/Flare (the latter two were removed from matchmaking because of this). Because you have a Brute Shot, I easily escaped your map with little effort. Overall, this map is a solid map, and it looks pretty awesome (minus the few rendering errors there are, aka "flashers," but those happen). I'd give this map a 4/5.
First of all thank you for a intense review, haha. Since I released this map I have a seen a bunch of tendencies in gameplay that I don't really like. I have made it out with a double/triple jump several times but thats a small fix compared to what I have planned for this map. Its not gonna be anytime soon but it will not disappoint.
Yeah, I have to admit I got out with the brute shot too. But I downloaded this before you posted it to the competitive maps forum. Have you made any changes since then? Because the one I have seems a little... cramped. Or is that the map?
i like the indoor to outdoor bit probaly wont be having big battles on here but these are great maps for small parties
this is quite possibly the best avalanche map I've ever played at, at least the best with no signs of regular avalanche. I love how traxus is everywhere!
Looks good. The "Tour" was a bit confusing. You should save a backup version and delete the cieling so you can get an overview screen of the map. I'm not going to suggest that you implement this next comment but I will write it so that you can use it in future maps should you so desire. I haven't tested this on the new maps though, so I'm just relating from past experience. If you place the double boxes and save the game, you can come back and see what color they will be. If you delete and replace them enough times it should be possible to get a large portion of the boxes organized by color and allow you to make sections of your map more visually pleasing.
This is one of my favourite maps ever. a must DL. The layout is just amazing, i especially like how the rock sticks through the yellow floor part.
A close-quarters map on avalanche? I have never seen it done so well and nice before. You have my download.
