You didn't use the correct template of "music + sweets."
    Just kidding.

Having a good plan right from the start so I don't run into technical flaws or somesuch.

Used to have the same problem, designing the map first so you know where to go with it really helps.

What motivates me is I host a regularly scheduled weekly game night with my friends. We usually play customs on maps that I have build or downloaded from the forge hub map masters. The game night is like a deadline for me to get a map at least playable in a few major game types so that my friends and I can try it out. It's a rush for me to make a map that my friends really like and enjoy.

What good is a map if you can't play it with your friends?

I do the same, But apparently music and sugar helps.

I think it's because deep down I'm second guessing my maps so when someone else knows I'm making the map and are like "Hurry and finish it I wanna play it" I'm more likely to finish it. Could try doing a map preview or something put some pressure on yourself to get it done.

I'm usually pretty good at getting things done unless I hit a snag, and then I just don't want to do it anymore. It's not exactly something I'm proud of but eh. That's kinda where I'm at with one of my maps. I've been working on it nonstop for the past two weeks, and I'm just tired of working with it lol. I started another one for when I get burnt on the first but yeah lol

    Ke$ha and Beer.

I'm joking. That's actually my suicide plan.

Los Lonley Boys + Dr. Pepper

Again joking but hey, it's a good combo ese.

The way I usually keep myself going on forging and for that record, finishing, is simply inspiration and self discipline. I am always inspired by many things to make in forge. While they don't always make it on paper some usually end up being started. However, the fact that you have come to a snag and you cannot correct it my friend is none other than the condition of...

    FORGER'S BLOCK!!!!!
Forger's block is a lot like writer's block in the sense that it stops you up short of finishing your forge maps, or for that matter, starting them.

    Symptoms of Forger's Block:

    1. Inability to spawn any more pieces of your map.
    2. Consistently forgetting aabout important changes or additions to your map(s).
    3. Coming to a false epiphany that your map(s) suddenly are incapable of being any good.
    4. Finding every little flaw in the map(s) without knowing how to or just not wanting to correct them.
    5. Increasing irritation with each minute you spend in the map, a process which is sped up by actually forging it.
    6. Constantly thinking of other things, possibly other maps, that you could be working on.
    7. And most commonly, almost excrutiating boredom.

While Forger's block may seem malignant and incurable, there are some ways to treat it.

    Treating Forger's Block
Forger's Block can be treated in many ways.

    Matchmaking

    Custom Games

Taking a break to do other things

    Playing music

If your map is based off of an inspiration from another place or idea other than halo, get a computer and study it.

    Draw

    Read

    Sleep

These are just a couple of the many ways to treat the conidtion of forger's block.

    ^I like that Zow.

I just get an idea (one of the at least 10 per day) and whatever I like I go with. Its really simple, I never need anything to keep me going because Im always thinking and calculating.

Phantom Planet + other indie bands. And a whole lot of boredom. Being in a party to chat with others helps.

Speaking of stimulation: You missed off masturbation.

I often get forger's block, and delete said map until something that could become something much better comes to mind. If I didn't delete my crappy forge creations, Forge Hub would be spammed with terrible maps :p

The main reason I forge ATM is because I see plenty of maps on Tempest and Forge World and almost none in comparison off those two maps. So I'm mainly forging off those maps right now. The idea that this simply works to fix that problem for me is what keeps me forging.

Most aren't too good IMO and so I haven't posted them (Yet...) but I still find them good enough to keep. Might make a preview post with them once I finish my second Breakpoint map.

It helps to have a plan, rather than just building randomly.
