I havnt been on Halo 3 in ages so i was wondering if there is still a large population and how the skill levels differ now...

like when the game first came out getting a 50 meant you were good (at the least) but when i left it [for reach] a 50 simply meant you were decent. Are they pretty common now bc skilled ppl are gone, or are they harder to get bc the skilled ppl stayed with halo 3 since it has a better MP than reach

anyways just wondering what its like now, lol

Select playlists have many players, others have not so much.
-Social Slayer has a few thousand
-Many ranked playlists have a few thousand
-Big Team battle (my favorite), unfortunately, has about 400-600 and it consists of full parties.

I would assume that getting a 50 is now more difficult nowadays because the system has a harder time matching you up against people that have a close skill level so it places you with a bigger challenge (but what do I know? It could do the exact opposite and give you complete noobs :D ).

H3 still has a decent number of people playing.

I occasionally hop on for a few games. Such a great game.

Halo 3 averages 100,000 unique players online per day according to the Bnet stats page. Reach averages 600,000. Which is horrible considering how new it is. Bungie stated that Reach has the lowest online population percentage out of any Halo game yet.

Tis becuase they took it too far this time around. I'm a die hard halo fan and I love Reach, but I think almost all of us can agree that this is worst in the series.

But yea, I played a match of Lone Wolves the other day and got into a match fairly quickly. I'm a 46. I did half decent and it was my first time playing since Reach so I'm guessing it's not too different from what it used to be.

I actually prefer reach matchmaking and although I prefered the H3 campaign I still prefer Reach as a complete game over H3 and ODST (the only two other halo games I have played). It'll be interesting playing CE in November to see how the franchise started.

hey 50's in halo ment you either boosted or bought it lol.... (they are bad) but there are good 50's .... i'm a 46 lol but yea it's still up and running... i prefer custom games still in halo three because who doesn't love going back to the basics (= but multilayer i think is better than reaches... i don't know i like the fact about not having armorlock in every game or jetpack but maybe i just wore out reach..... and reach's camp is better than halo 3's .... halo 3's camp sucked in my opinion except the ark and the covy's ... because who doesn't want to fight 2 scarebs at the same time

Level has nothing to do with Skill in my opinion, I friend of mine always played Socail Slayer for example, his highest level was a 20 in Team Slayer, but he played as good as I did, even though I was level 50.
I still prefer Halo 3, I only enjoy Reachs Forge and playing Custom Games, I'm just no fan of bloom and AAs .

I'm slowly becoming a fan of bloom, although the luck side of it can be quite irritating. I think if they reduced the number of AA's available at spawn and placed others at pick-ups, the game could get back to its roots while still maintaining the Reach core gameplay that was intended.

That being said, I forge more than I play matchmaking at this point, so I certainly get schooled more often than not, but back in the Halo 2 days, I was incredibly good. Anytime I play a map from Halo 2, I still school players who have probably only played the maps half as frequently as I ever did. It's nice to have that nostalgia. Off Topic: fingers crossed we see a headlong remake in CE Anniversary

I miss halo 3..... Thats probably the game I have had most experiences with, 16 player customs, messing around in foundry. *Sniffle. I don't like Reach's mp at all. It takes much too long to kill which makes the common "strategy" running away into your friends so they can kill the person. Halo 3 was amazing. Point made.

LOL, I know man. I played a game in MLG with some friends and I couldnt stop laughing cuz the other team would have a guy shoot at us, then sprint away and another popped out and repeated. It may be a working strategy but it just looks so funny to see them run like that.

I REALLY hate armor lock noobs, but bloom doesnt bother me. I do miss the old school forging on Foundry before Ghost merging. It was so epic when you took so much time and effort to get a perfect merge. Maps took time and patience back then.

I've played every single halo game (besides halo wars but that doesen't count), and I have to say Halo 2 and halo Reach were the best. Halo 3 was good, but the controls were ****ed and I had a hard time getting used to them.

    Edited by merge:

Well do you want every firefight with 2 people involved to last about 1.7 seconds? I like Halo Reach, and prefer it to every halo game out there besides 2. 2 was like the best, even though there was no forging. If there was forging involved I'd still be playing 2.
