    Introduction

    Prologue is part of a trio of maps I have created which draw heavy inspiration from Halo 3. As you have probably already guessed this one is inspired from Epitaph / Epilogue. The map is built in a very similar style to the aforementioned but is not a straight remake. With Reach's physics engine and new additions I felt it was more practical to forge an 'inspired by' map rather than a pixel perfect remake.

    Design and Building

    Prologue pretty much designed itself. After the floor plan and walls were placed the map practically shaped itself. The outer walkways are different to Epitaph as I had my hands tied by budget. This was due to the way I had to use my block peices. It would have been too expensive to have seperate blocks for the inner and outer walls so I used large blocks, interlocked through the wall which made them both. This meant the outer walkway had to be different to Epitaph.

    My main aim when building Prologue was to keep it aesthetically pleasing with no frame rate lag. I am pleased to say that frame rate lag in non existent in the map.

    Gameplay, Testing and Feedback

    Gamemplay is very similar to Epitaph despite the geometery differences. Spawning is great in both FFA and Team based games.

    Initial testing showed a few map breaking areas which were soon seen to. Other than the map played fine and was enjoyable.

    Weapons and Gametypes

    Weapon setup mirrors Epitaph to a certain extent but with a Sniper Rifle replacing the Camo and an Overshield replacing the Gravity Hammer. Other than that the map has a very similar setup and plays similarly too.

    4 x Assault Rifle
    4 x DMR
    4 x Needle Rifle
    2 x Magnum
    4 x Plasma Pistol
    4 x Plasma Repeater
    1 x Rocket Launcher
    1 x Sniper Rifle
    1 x Shotgun
    1 x Overshield
    4 x Plasma Grenade

    Gametypes featured on the map are the same as Epitaph. These are:

    Slayer
    Team Slayer
    Juggernaut
    King of the hill
    Headhunter
    Oddball

    Finally...

    On a final note I would like to thank everyone who helped test the map. Special thanks to Itz Eightball and ajw34307 for their helpful ideas and suggestions. Special thanks also to Marcass2021 for repeatedley breaking the map ;)

    I love the idea. Epitaph was a really underplayed map that deserved more attention and i think it's awesome that you brought the idea back.

    [OFF TOPIC]- i am relatively new to competitive style forge so, what does it mean to 'break' a map? Will appreciate a reply.

    'Breaking' the map, in this instance, refers to finding a hiding spot which could be utilised in HLG type tactics. It can also mean using a glitch or undesired element of the map to gain an unfair advantage. Thanks for comment.

    This map looks Great. It loooks very well planned out and very smooth. You did a great job with the layout and providing cover. Definitely inspired by Epitaph. Nice job.

    I enjoyed this map, mostly because of the gameplay and that fact that it was a lot like epitaph. I liked that map a lot. Anyways, the green light really sets the tone for the map and the simplicity of forge pieces cuts down any framerate problems, that didn't exist if not for those pieces. Really great job man, your creativity is something I like seeing in your maps and it seems you always come up with something unique.

    Yo Yo, its about time you posted this map.. we only finished testing it today.. im hoping you fixed that killzone in the water. =P this map was a lot of fun to play on, and fight on that top platform. hopefully you got all the kill balls and banshees deleted before you posted this on your fileshare...

    it has a really nice epitaph feeling from H3. i havnt played an actual game on it but im running round on it right now. the only question i have is y for the two lifts tht lead to rockets there both different one has just a cover piece and the other a brace large protecting it i felt it had a nice symmetrical feel to it until i saw tht one i guess "flaw"

    I fail to see how it is a flaw if im completely honest. The map is not symmetrical, I chose for minor differences in order to help players navigate the map.

    ok sorry wrong word. all touchy. no im just saying it just felt weird. as for me when making maps ive either been EXTREMELY particular when making a symetrical map for it to be perfect for both sides ill even delete the whole map together if i cant get it. it was just weird to c ur map is completely symmetrical UNTIL u see tht lift thts all. it doesnt seem like it would alter gameplay tht much considering i was able to angle a grenade behind the brace large by simply throwing it off the back end of the lift. and im not saying i dont like ur map its fine i could play a FFA on it every once in a while or 2v2 but other than tht nothin else.
