    CITADEL (Remake)

    Hello all welcome to a preview of my latest map. I started this a few days ago, and it feels close to complete


    I have decided to make 2 versions 1 with lights and aesthetically as best as I can get and a version compatible in split screen with no lights and improved framerate.

    Aprox 2400 budget left before weapons and health aprox.
    No lights, compatible with split screen.
    copy on my fileshare while I go away to friends
    (so I can play it there)

    This has 4 health stations 2 at each base top and bottom.
    Spawning, weapons and gametypes will be copied from halo 3 version.
    No lights.... minimal object overlap.... all objects made to look as simmilar as possible to help improve framerate and gaming viewing and quality.

    On topic: Wow, man. First Cold Storage, now Citadel, you have high expectations on you, man, you dont want to disappoint. Anyway, this map looks accurate and beautiful, keep up the good work!

    Wow looks awesome dude. i never actually looked at the map before you posted, but i noticed you workin on it for awhile. It looks Amazing and i cant wait to play on it. The colors are great and it should bring back some old memories. Cant wait to see it finalized!

    Thanks :), I am pleased with how this has come together. using the same objects through-out, has kept this looking clean. the colousseum roof and windows look well. Roof is centered and gives nice look. Thank you

    THIS IS OUTSTANDING! I have to look at it tonight. I have always thought that Citadel would be the only map I would consider remaking. From what I have seen thus far, you did your usual high quality work on this one! AGAIN, OUTSTANDING!!

    Thanks, its just a sneek peek , but there isn't much to change, there may be a couple more pillars that need adding and weapon placement, tweeking and double checking measurements spawns gametypes etc....

    YES!!! finally a really good and really accurate remake of citadel I loved that map. Just friend request me if you need help testing. hope to see it finished.

    Thanks, it is all measured, but in the colousseum it is actually 6 halo meters short, but the difference is hardly noticable and worth the sacrifice for extra aesthetics of roof and glass, I have also made one corridor 1 meter larger as it looks better. My next job on map is to tie everything in and make sure all the lines are clean and any lights (2*2 platforms) are facing best way. They Are my main worry, I recently added and unsure if a drop in fr has occured. But if it has , atleast I will know what is causing problem and find an alternative....although no other piece fits... its in central structures diagonal roofs. Thanks for the comments, tests should start next week :)

    your welcome and i will be glad to test it with you. How did you determine the lengths of the corridors for citadel??

    Thanks, it is all measured from halo 3, screenshots also play a large part in getting the corridors to look right. As I said it is 6 halo meters shorter this has made corridors in In hall slightly smaller. dt192 kindly got me a good areal map that helped too. Just been tidying and tweeking it ready. Thanks

    I don't believe you should have built this in the collesium roof for two reasons

    1. The lighting makes all pieces a tan/grey colour and it looks real tacky with maps up there. It makes it ridiculously obvious the map is forged and it's just a damn shame :(
    2. Citadel has windows which let light in on one side of the map, the other side has the windows shut, hence why one side is in shadows (blue) and the other side is light (gold), as an aesthetic map maker I'm kind of let down you haven't implemented this :(

    It doesn't look bad mind, but it's no where near as accurate as your previous remake, cold storage.

    Accuracy has been adjusted to fit in colousseum, really speeking it needed forging outside as the dimentions of the map including back aesthetics that are accessable 6 meters out. I've known this from the begging. For the slight sacrifice I have cut budget, acheived the framerate I was looking for. I also had the map height as I previously had glass floor in central hall to simulate original, but an instant drop in fr changed this. I could lighten the side you speeking of with a light or two behind glass, & forge some landscape.... but I don't think its a good idea.

    Also 6 halo meters is aprox 1 .5 blocks.... and it is less than 6 out. As some walls can be made thiner than original the looks or lay out will not change .

    I find it hard to believe you're not an Arstisan already. Timmy, you create great map after great map. This looks fantastic and I know, one day, you'll be an Artisan. It'll be well-deserved my friend. I've been thinking about making a reimagination of Citadel, but this blows anything of mine out of the water. While I ultimately got bored with the project as well. Keep it up.

    Thank you ! This project turned out to a lot simpler than I thought. I was also thinking of a less nicer looking version for the 5000 comp... but I will have to see if there is time. Finished version has just over 2000 left.... but 20 walls are doubled up to gain thickness and to keep map all looking same. It is practically finished now, everywhere feels finished and smooth and there are only a few walkways that I am tinkering with....getting perfect spot of match with no texture fighting..... I will take my time on this map and make sure it is as I want it throughout. Thanks :)

    Timmy this map looks epic! I always enjoyed this map in Halo 3, but I have not seen a remake that has really captured the feel. This really seems to hold true to the original! I love your use of large walkways, and I can't wait tell this is posted!

    Thank you. This is now ready, all gametypes, spawning, weapons including correct spawn times, all objectives are same size in same locations to really capture feel. I have tested split screen and it plays well. All gametypes tested. Final tests tonight hopefully. I had to change yellow team to yellow object colour as the colouring only work if there is a yellow team. This may confuse players so I have decided to keep as simple as possible. Also I have added extra gametypes , chess, stockpile, headhunter making this map compatible with all gametypes except for race and invasion.
