"The clammy claw of the dead sets its cold grasp on previously untouched outskirts."
At the end of the road, you find yourself at the edge of the quarantine zone. Met with heavy resistance by military forces, your are left with no choice, and must hunker down and barricade the abandoned suburbs. With a hand full of shells and an intense will to live, you make your final stand.

    Welcome to Necro Street
Will it be your salvation, or your grave?

    Background
Necro Street was a small project that I started with a spark of inspiration that I had gained while seeing such maps as Undead Village rise in popularity. Upon downloading and trying out the map (Undead Village), I thought it was okay, but I could understand some fundamental problems with its formula. It was very easy for humans to set up shop in a small room, block the door, and with their infinite ammo supply, camp indefinitely. It created what I call "Unequal Access", where Survivor fun > Zombie Fun.
This went against my core beliefs in Infection map design.

(Video is kinda long, so feel free to skip this one.)
    YouTube - ‪Infection Forge Tips - Ep 1 "Equal Access"‬‏

Fast foward to months later. I began experimenting with techniques to make multiple, equally detailed structures that were at least of medium size. After a while of messing around I began laying the groundwork for what was to become Necro Street, what was then just called Neighborhood. I quickly realized this was my chance to take the Undead Village formula, revamp it, and make it cleaner and more enjoyable. I started by making every room have two entrances to maintain, giving humans only a finite ammo supply, that WILL run out eventually, and only 30 seconds to prepare. Trust me, after quite a bit of playtesting, this is what I found to be the most fun and fair. After forging away for hours, I finally finished my creation.

    The Walkthrough
(*Note: the purple effect has been removed for these screenshots. Some of these screenshots are also mouseovers, so remember to scroll over each one!)

The map consists of four houses, identical in structure, parted in pairs by a mainstreet down the middle of the map. Each has its own backyard, complete with patio, table, grill, and some rock structures. I have provided a diagram below.

As you can see, humans spawn dead center of the street, with zombies spawning directly below them in a spawn room

Here is an overview of Necro Street, with a spartan for scale reference.

    Where do I start?

Well I have to say that the presentation is one of the best I have seen on forgehub. You have a Walktrhough video, a Gamepaly video, and even a video were your just talking about your inspiration and thoughts about the map. Even though the video were your explaining the multiple entranceways is dragged out a bit I think its a very smart idea. Overall great job, The map is neat, symetrical and easy quick learning layout. I'll DL.

Thanks, I spent a lot of time working on this map, and I am really happy with how it turned out. Wanted the post to reflect that, but making this post was a real pain (was nearly finished, and an error occured, had to start all over). I wasn't really expecting anyone to watch the Equal Access video, but I'm glad you did. If you liked that, I got the other two episodes posted here in the Forge discussion section.

Based on posts alone (the information derives from them, that it), I'd have to say this is one of your best maps so far, closely followed by lighthouse. And that's not just 'cause I love the song in the trailer video and was planning on using it in my next map video before I saw it here.
However, I do want to know one thing: What's the zombie death to kill ratio? Anything over 3:1 would be a bit discouraging. The worst aspect of these kind of infection maps is that, as emotionally-loaded as it is for the survivors, it's rather monotonous for the infected.

Hey, I love these sort of domestic infection maps! I forgot the official term for them, but they're awesome, and remind me of the gameplay of when zombies was a bunkered down fad from Halo 2. Leading on that, this map is awesome. Smooth forging, simple layout, diverse gameplay options, I quite enjoy this map.

Another thing, what is the name of that song?? I've heard it on the radio before several times and I always think it's saying IN YOUR HAIR, IN YOUR HAIR. ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! I dunno, I'm guessing you were thinking the same thing when you put it in your video.

This map looks fantastic and I can't wait to play it sometime! Looking forward to having an Infection experience similar to that of Counter Strike: Source with the barricades.

I completely agree. I love how you have the purple lighting and the streetlights. This looks like a fun map to play. I'm downloading it now.

Wow, I thought of making a remake of this and then I paused and thought to myself: what would I change? Great infection maps as always.
