    YouTube - ‪Spiral Knights - Official Launch Trailer‬‏

Spiral Knights, one of the few gems I've found in my search for a good free MMO. Well, not only is it good, but it is very creative in its combination of a Legend of Zelda style combat system, and having no classes of any sort. It really surprised me to find that this is a game that I really could get into playing more with friends.

In the beginning you don't get much customization, but don't fret, you will get to outfit your little robot dude with all kinds of gear to make him (or her) look super cool.

The game is Free to Pay, that means that it is free to play, but some things require crystal energy. Crystal energy is acquired with real money, through either steam or their website I believe, but I have had no need to use any of that so I don't know exactly how payment works out. Nonetheless, this is definitely a game to try out, links are at the top of this post.

Also, if anyone would like to play through a dungeon, I would love to get on and do that.

EDIT: I am making a guild for forgehub members. It is called Steppen Wolf, let me know and ill invite you to the guild.

Just how many friends can you play with at one time? I may give this a try when I get a desktop that can support it graphically.

I dont think there is a limit to be honest, but the most I've been playing with it five people which is still damn cool with this game.

Most, no, all of the fighting is in "dungeons" in the clockworks. All the little robot guys are trying to get to the core to get some energy for the mothership to leave the planet. Still ****ing badass though.

My character I play alot is called Migake if you want to play, im waiting for my mist to recharge so i can synthesis some items. Wait, oh, if you want to play with me on my steam account my character for THAT account is Hachimodo

Oh also, it doesnt need the best computer to play, they were good and have some lower graphics settings.

I looked at the website, but it wasn't very informative. I glanced at the forums and saw that there were clans forming. Does that mean that you can play against other players too... so your group of five can attack other groups or solo players?

I don't think that there is any kind of PvP right now, so no. But I'll give you the lowdown of what you can do since their site isn't the best at explaining it all.

    You are a knight. (duh)

    You are also a robot.

You get to use any combination of 2 weapons, those can be a gun, bomb, or melee weapon.

You get a shield, helm, and armor for gear.

Combat consists of four things: Attack, Guard, swapping weapon, and using items.

To my knowledge, the most people in a group going in a dungeon together is 5 though it could be more.

Crystal energy can be bought with real money, or ingame money (crowns)

Said Crystal energy is used AFTER mist when doing things, so if you have 20 mist and 100 crystal energy and try to make a weapon that costs 50 energy, then it will expend mist before it expends crystal energy.

Mist recharges back to 100 over a 24 hour period, crystal energy does not.

You can form a guild for 1000 crowns (ingame currency) and 500 crystal energy.

All dungeons are instanced so you don't have a ton of people running around, but the town isn't so you can meet people and sell things in town, or go to the auction house.

On another note, I am going to start a forgehub guild once I round up enough money/crystal energy to start it. My character names are Migake and Hachimodo (this ones on steam) Contact me ingame and I can show you the ropes or help you out a little.

Just played it last night with two of my friends. I can definitely agree with the Zelda-ish combat, and overall it was definitely a fun little game, especially for a F2P game. I'll definitely be having some fun with this one for a long time. (This is coming from someone who has a distaste for MMORPGs, MMOs, and some RPGs)

I actually dropped 7 bucks into this game, and don't regret it at all. Now I've unlocked tier 2 in the clockworks and MAN is it a ***** to stay alive alone. I don't suggest going solo in there once you get to tier 2. I should post a screenie of what my guy looks like, but server is down for either reset or update right now.

My guy has Magic Hood, Cobalt Armor, Skelly Shield, and a Flourish and looks like a boss. I'd post him, but don't have access to my account now. I dropped 5 bucks for energy and so far I am not dissapointed, like Hachiman.
