I was perusing around Ebay.com today, and I stumbled upon the greatest trapper hat I had ever laid my eyes upon. This eye candy was by no means to go unpurchased, so I got out of the computer chair and searched for my wallet. The quest for the elusive wallet had come to a close only minutes after embarking on my journey, and as I ran back up the staircase I heard the sound of another being's rump rest itself upon my precious chair. I became furious, I became doubtful, and I became afraid. Who would dare break into my home and take leisure in my chair? But there remained the possibility that no one had broken into my house but instead an evil apparition had materialized and decided to steal my soul and my chair. Keeping this in mind, I approached the office room with extreme caution. With every step I crept closer to my chair and the prospect of owning the most beautiful trapper hat anyone would ever witness. Sweat began to pour down my sides as the cries of my computer chair became closer to my ears. The adrenaline running through my veins became too much to bare, so I jumped into the office screaming and kicking. There was nothing in the office, oh well! I doubt you came to this thread to read an expertly crafted horror story and I doubt you're reading what I typed for this tread anyhow, opting instead to just look at the pictures and leave. If that is the case, then f*ck you and get out of my thread, because I never liked you anyways. Though if I'm wrong and and you're are reading this, than bravo. Thank you for wasting your time on me (you'll never get that time back, I promise). Now to focus on what the thread is really about: For those familiar with this map from Halo 3, please pay no attention to this paragraph. For those of you who are not familiar with this map in any degree; this is Sapphire. Sapphire is a map variant dragged into Reach from the abyssal ruin that is Halo 3, and shares many of the same attributes found in Halo 3's version; those being a small quarters play space devoid of human weapons and stuffed to the brim with aesthetics ad nauseum. Gameplay on Sapphire is engineered around the use of the needler and plasma grenades, however other covenant weapons do make an appearance (as long as they look pretty when being fired). Matches on Sapphire when using the appropriate gametypes can result in absolute joy or extreme misery and frustration. This depends on your playing preferences. Noticeable changes have been made to Sapphire through its transition from Halo 3 to Reach: a larger budget and object pallet have allowed higher complexity both aesthetically and structurally. Sapphire now does not feature a straight L shape, but now a horribly disfigured M shape. With the new ability to create loadouts, rave variants allow the player to spawn with various covenant weapons, though gameplay remains restricted to the needler and a select few covenant weapons (as stated before; anything that is pretty when fired. Sadly the transition has not all been kind and gentle. For the time being Rave Flag** has been cut from Sapphire's roster, and is survived by Team Raver and its new companion Overdose. Screenshots take up a very large portion of this thread, and I apologize if you're not a fan of scrolling. This is why I am putting the action screenshots in a spoiler box and placing them in corresponding gametypes. Note: As more gametypes become available for Sapphire, I will add more spoiler boxes labeled for new gametypes. Actually, wait, nevermind. I won't put them in a spoiler box! Exploding blue balls. Videos! YouTube - Sapphire Redux - Team Raver‏ Download Team Raver* Download Overdose Download Sapphire *: The Halo:Reach variant of Team Raver is a concept created by Vicious Vice. Thank you for allowing me to take it and make it my own. **: I give credit to Fbu for birthing the original concept of "Rave" in Halo. His rave flag gametype was the mother of Sapphire, and served as the defining gametype for it.
I don't know the original map, but this one looks beautiful. And no doubt a healthy serving of those pretty needler... needles will help this map along nicely. From the video I was able to see that its basically conquest without a goal, which is awesome, but it needs more CTF. I played a game ages ago called Christmas CTF, and it was basically this... with flags and such. Its really fun. I was also able to see from your vid that you are not the best with the focus rifle.
I have the Rave Flag variant ready for sapphire, but spawns beame a real issue. I'm trying to work out the kinks with CTF spawns, however the focus rifle isn't the only thing I'm medicocre with.
I bought reach about a week ago. I can't believe the epic timing here... For any person clueless about the original, I recommend a sit down with your halo 3 disk for a while. Loved the original so much if I'm not mistaken it's on my file share. It's a game of pure fun. I've seen some nerd rage, but moreso, I've been giggling too damn much to notice.
I remember taking part in some ancient tests on this map. Was good fun! However, the version I played had screwy spawns - no doubt they have been fixed in the final version! I distinctly recall a number of players simply stopping and staring at the light-piece...awestruck. I was one. Love the work, glad to (accidentally) see the final release!
Beautiful remake chips. If only I could learn to use the pieces half as good as you do. My recommendation would be to include a flag gametype in the thread though.
Plasmalicious! I remember this map from Halo3 we used to play it alot. Happy that you kept the same layout and aesthetic feel. Played it 3 on 3 yumy yumy plasma!!!
