High(est) Hopes

    History of High Hopes

    Okay, so I've spent 20+ hours on this map. I was hosting a LAN party the next day and decided to make a balanced all-around map. I spent about 6 hours that night on High Hopes, which I tested with my brothers and friends from school the next day... It turned out High Hopes had some kinks. I spent another 2-3 hours fixing those and implementing more ideas (I introduced the Gears of War-esque bridge on the west wall, north being the Main Complex). I renamed this one High(er) Hopes. High(er) Hopes was then tested for about 30 matches with 12 people at the LAN that night. I learned that, with larger groups of people playing Infection, my map wasn't properly balanced. I then corrected the imbalances (I added a Gravity Hammer and Rocket Launcher, as well as a concealed Sniper Rifle). The next weekend, I had two seperate groups of 16 people play High(est) Hopes, and nothing recognizably imbalanced could be found. I uploaded the map to B.net, and right now it has 200+ downloads and 4 (four) stars (****). That concludes the Chronicles of High Hopes to date.

    Summary of Above: High(est) Hopes is simply a well-tested, enjoyable map.

    Gametypes: HH Team Slayer
    HH Infection

    Description of Gametypes:
    -High(est) Hopes Team Slayer is a blast to the past. You spawn with an SMG a la Halo 2.

    -High(est) Hopes Infection is uniquely designed for High(est) Hopes. Alpha Zombies spawn
    with Gravity Hammers and Swords. The next Alpha Zombie is decided by "Chump". Zombies
    have more damage resistance, but no shields. Humans are default as always. Starting
    weapon for Humans is Battle Rifle. That's pretty much all I recall, but as mentioned above,
    please notify me if anything else is changed that I forgot.

    Short description:
    High Hopes got its name when I tried to put an open container on top of the main fortress on the level. When that didn't work, I just went around and made an elevated complex that is almost impenatrable when properly defended but fair enough to be fun.Power weapons are scattered throughout the map in a balanced fashion and are as follows: the Main Complex has a Gravity Hammer (look hard for it), a Sniper, a Shotty and a Rocket Launcher where the Splazer usually spawns; the beach (attackers) are armed with a Beam Rifle and Sniper Rifle (though the Gravity Hammer usually falls into their hands). There are various other weapons scattered throughout the map as well as equipment and 'nades. There is one Mongoose hiding in the shadows on the side of the Main Complex and a Gauss 'Hog on the Beach.

    looks very legitamilly tested, and you make a very good fisrt impression, I qued it. Have any spwcial gametype for it

    It plays well with most basic gametypes, but I will be uploading the customized Infection gametype later this week.

    Basically, the Alpha Zombies need to start with Grav. Hammers to help knock down the tall tower...
    And Next Zombie is set to "Chump".

    But as I said, no need to do it yourself, I'll have it up by Saturday.

    awesome, cause when i see maps that have things balancing on something i tend to turn off the gernades and all explosives but ill have to test that out.

    Well, as you can see, the explosives are most definantly present! Grenades are placed on the map, so turning off 'Nades is of no use.

    But yes, as I said, I will be uploading the recommended gametype(s) for this map over the weekend, so stay tuned!

    Well, it looks absolutely gorgeous. I've queued it, and I'll find out this weekend if it plays as well as it looks. Nice job, dude!

    Crapp... it's now locked for bumping... Which, admittedly, is one of my worst traits.

    This map looks very well done. The objects are all in order and there is nothings that seems to mess with the maps flow. I have cued it for download and will most likely be playing it with my friends later tonight. Good job, keep 'em coming ;D
