So anyway, I was just looking through the competitive map section and something struck me, four of the maps had altered thumbnails. Three of those maps were on top of the list with a high amount of comments. Obviously it's unfair for someone to have to compete with an altered thumbnail, especially when they know it's against the rules to use one themselves. It's irritating to have to tell these people that they can't use the thumbnail, and its probably irritating for them. My solution is, allow people to use altered thumbnails. That way, everyones on an equal playing field. Thoughts?
Well it gets into a very tricky area there, because that frees people up to use basically any eye-catching thing as a thumbnail, whether it has much to do with their map or not. Yes the playing field would be level, but the new level would be extremely annoying - all kinds of animations and graphics and images not even generated by the Reach engine. Instead of looking at screenshots of maps, you'd be looking at a wall of ads. Personally I say, keep it how it is, and the mods should be on top of telling people to change their thumbnail (or just change it out for them).
Agreed, lay the smack down on their candy asses. Its unfair for people to be able to use something more peacocky than someone elses just to intentionally draw attention away from the competition. If your image isnt good enough to attract people then youll either have to get a better, unaltered image, or just suck it up and post your map somewhere else.
These people are going to be dealt with, I notified the mods last night. This also isn't the location for such topics. Queries like this in general need to go into the Customer Services forum. I'm gonna go ahead and lock this. Any further questions like that, feel free to start a topic in there or PM me for information. LOCKED
