The Flood in Halo CE (they kinda lost their scariness thereafter) Going into that Foundry in GOW1 with Lambent Wretches Avoiding the Grizzly Bear in Condemned 2 Encountering a Tank on L4D on expert mode The Ravenholm in Half-Life 2 No game has really scared me through and through, just certain moments really. To me most of the games that try to be scary lose their scariness because they try so hard to be scary that I know what to expect (i.e. Resident Evil, Silent Hill, FEAR)
the original silent hill games were scary because they were just... creepy i think developers should try to make a more psychologically terrifying game, instead of "YOU ARE SCARED BECAUSE THIS CREEPY MONSTER JUMPED OUT AT YOU" look at it, its all mutated and contorted looking, with stitches and scars and peculiar mannerisms. yawn. they need to make a game that really ****s with your head.
When you have to fight the giant baby boss in Luigi's mansion, holy ****, playing that as a kid probably led to some of the problems I have now. In fact I actually think I was more scared of that game than Bioshock or Fear. Nvmnd, that part in one of the Fear games where the girl (or ghost cant remember) teleports through the hallway thats dark while you're going down it, that freaked the **** out of me.
Amnesia: The dark descent is the only game I vow scary. It's the only game that ACTUALLY frightens me, and it does it good. Perhaps it's the sanity system, perhaps it's the atmosphere. Perhaps it's a combination of both, but that game is just plain scary.
This. I was a bit surprised no one said this earlier, I guess because it is not widely known about. Seriously, play the game. Its scary as hell.
ಠ_ಠ Its not a wave survival game; you actually have to walk places (wasd keys), and triggers activate as you go into them. I do not think there are any timed events (at least major ones) that occur. Unfortunately you don't get to solve any major puzzles in the demo. The demo is really only a taste of the full game which is much more frightening.
