    i've got around $1200

Instead of hijacking Matty's build me a PC thread, i decided to make my own. i'd rather not build it myself since i'm not very tech savvy, as Mac users are. I've been on Newegg and TigerDirect peaking around, and on both sites the iBUYPOWER pc's have been sticking out, same with a few of the Acers. I've heard mixed opinions on Acer comps. A monitor can wait, since i have an HDTV i'll be using in the meantime, when i do get a monitor, i want it to be around 22" and awesome.

I want to get as much as humanly possible packed into this thing for $1200.

EDIT: found my way to CyberPower PC's and i'm drooling a bit. I came up with this:
    http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1D80J9
(the fact that it's $1200 is coincidence oddly enough)

I don't know a whole lot about building computers, but I guess I'll post something since no one else will.

Usually you want to spend about the same on a video card as you would the processor. I looked up the price for both in the build you posted and the processor is about $100 more than the card.

I don't know if there's any truth to it, but I've heard that NVIDIA cards run better with Intel processors and likewise with AMD/ATI.

It is true you could knock off like £150 dollars and get the 2500K instead of the 2600K, spend about 50 dollars on an upgraded cooling setup (if needed) and overclock the 2500K just as much as the 2600K. You would lose out on the cache though.

With all that performance your hard drive will probably slow you down, if you use it much.

    dont order from cyberpower.

a friend of mine got her PC from them, and it came with a screw loose inside the casing and sparked and smoked when she turned it on the first time.

try ibuypower, thats where i got mine and it was legit.

yeah, i had this thread up for 3 days thinking nobody would reply. literally hours after ordering the 600$ Asus people started posting here.

im sitting here thinking "please dont tell me not to do anything i did..."

What i ended up doing was ordering this guy: Newegg.com - Recertified: ASUS Essentio CG1330-05 Desktop PC Phenom II X6 1035T(2.6GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity ATI Radeon HD 5750 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
along with a better PSU since that 300W is just plain scary, especially on a comp i plan to upgrade.

its not an ultra pc like i had planned, but its such a great deal. On top of that, it leaves me with another 600$ or so to upgrade anything needed. Whats your guys' opinion on getting a better GFX card for it? or anything really

Building isn't hard at all, and isn't nearly as nerdy as it sounds. If you re-consider, I'll get you a good item list for that budget :p

also, you're the first person i've heard say Asus sucks. You're opinion on CyberPower is spot on though hah

I didn't notice that you had ordered, it was going to be a very similar build to that anyway :) But could have got a bit more bang for your buck.

AMD Phenom II is one of the best processors out there. Now 2.6 GHz isn't the greatest,
but they are way more efficient then those **** intel-i processors out there.
Now how many fans do you have built-in? Cooling liquid? Because If you don't have atleast a fan in the north bridge and south then your motherboard's ****ed in a year. Especially on hot days. But you got a pretty decent PC for $600 I'll give you that.

It depends on the task in hand, so the statement "PHENUM IS BETTUR" is wrong.. But I agree, AMD is better pricewise if that is what you meant :p

Did you not read what I had said? I said they are more efficient not necessarily faster. Anyways where did you get this information?

Graphics cards around $200 are pretty neat if you ask me. And with a processor around $300 will be enough to run Crysis at high settings.

But knowing you have $1200 well...

    BUY EVERYTHING!
