†Wërchenheir † “Laid out in a canyon, this secret base is home to some of humanity’s greatest battles against the Covenant.” This is a large map mainly for games with more than 8 people (“There are others?!?!”). It is great for Big Team Slayer games and CTF variants. It took me about 4-5 days for me to forge the map, I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I ripped apart and put back together each building, and there were probably 20+ Mountain Dews consumed during the process. The architecture has a sort of modern military feel to it, with sharp angles and open rooms. There are 5 different buildings that each are roughly the same size (kinda). As for gameplay, there are long sightlines that are perfect for intense snipping action, and tight corners that are ideal for close quarters combat. Essentially, it has it all (not to brag or anything). You aren’t even reading this are you?!? Oh well, picture time. Lol, jk. I meant weapon list. 1x Rocket Launcher (Slayer only) 2x Sniper Rifle 2x Shotgun 3x Assault Rifle 4x DMR 2x Grenade Launcher 2x Machine Gun Turrets 1x Concussion Rifle 4x Needle Rifle 2x Needler 1x Plasma Pistol 2x Plasma Repeater 2x Warthog 4x Mongoose 2x Falcon (Slayer only) Good Hunting. Pictures (Finally): A bird's eye view of the map where you can clearly see each of the five (5) buildings and their relation to one another. This is the West Base where the red team will spawn. NOTICE: The grid in the background is simply to make sure no one escapes my map. A view of the Falcon taking off (or is it landing?) from it's spawn area. This one is probably my favorite building out of the five, also home to one of the 2 falcons. Note the teleporter inside of the building, those are for slayer gametypes only and it connects to the building in the picture below. This is the main building of the East(ish) base where the teleporter from above connects. This picture doesn't really do this building justice, it is actually quite nice. This is the secondary building of the eastern base, not much to say about it really. Other than I think it really captures that modern military look. This is the building that hugs the canyon wall and houses one of the map's snipers. As you can see to the right I am walking down the ramp. ("Cool story, Bro.") Ah yes, the infamous thumbnail image. This is the center of the map where you will find the Rocket Launcher, but only if you are playing slayer! There isn't too much to hind behind out here, so you better start running Green Man or else you're gunna get shot! And that's my map that I made, just for you! Please download, like, and leave feedback. ("This guy's really demanding!") Thanks!
One word, man. Cover. Without cover your players will be stuck to the buildings and vehicles, especially the falcons, will dominate the map. interesting cover also creates more aesthetics and game variables for your map. Another word: Sniper. Being a good sniper if I do say so myself, I would completely dominate this map if I got my hands on a sniper, as im sure anyone who knows how to use a sniper would also. Aesthetics are great though, great job.
I completely agree, there is a large lack of cover. I'll see what I can do to try and fix this. Thanks for the feedback.
Those structures are very sick.. and I'm a person who gets pissed if someone tries to escape the map.. I would've put a kill barrier. Juuus saying :3 Also.. if the idea was to forge a fortress, base, compound, etc.. there should be some kind of tunnel system or some kind of path to help players guide themesleves to hide somewhere. Also cover is needed for traveling from building to building or otherwise its just going to be a camping game. I'm sure your idea was a "HOLY CRAP RUN TO THE NEXT BUILDING" kind of game.
This map looks Great. Each outer building is unique but somehow they all fit together perfectly. The spot you chose is nice too. The middle structure is interesting and I like it. Looks like a great map except for the fact that there is not much cover surrounding the rest of the field. Reasons why? or just a mistake.
I would really add a tall center piece to prevent some cross-map lines of sight. I would also replace the grid with a soft killbarrier.
The reason for the lack of cover is mainly because I couldn't come up with any ideas with the little budget I had left. But after play testing it a bunch today in school (don't ask why) I found that it is very easy to move across the map without getting killed, even without any cover in the middle. It was surprisingly balanced too with the snipers and the rest of the weapons.
