Forsaken Lagoon 8-16 players Forsaken lagoon is my third shark reef map. Shark Reef is a spin off to the infection gametype jaws, but more competitive and realistic. Beware - NO Swimming YouTube - Halo Reach Forge- "Forsaken Lagoon" This infection gametype is a constant battle between land and water. Humans start out on the rock islands and must survive the sneaky sharks that swarm the waters. Sharks spawn in 2 caves and can use many different strategies to hunt their prey. Humans start out with assault rifles, and shotguns. Their radar is limited to 10 meters and can only jump as 75%. They carry also carry one single granade. The Sharks start out with swords and gravity hammers. They have an enhanced 25 meter radar and can see every human through way points. Their damage resistance is lowered and have no shields. They also have sprint, can run slightly faster, and can jump slightly higher. The goal is to survive, and the only way to survive is to camp. The only other place to go is in the water. This water is completely safe and no one can die from either walking or crouching in it. However it is very foggy and murky, and humans do not have the tools to see enemies like sharks can. Humans, be prepared, anything can happen in a flash. The last man standing has bottomless clips. But it's still not as easy as you think, but it will definitely help make up for your fallen teammates. I remember this from Halo 3, it was a great gametype. Had a look around in forge and I must say, its a very cool map, although I'm not sure on your choice of lighting effects, I just don't think they suit the map. There is one issue though. The jumps between rock platforms dont seem to be very easy to do, and some are even impossible, an example is in your gameplay vid at around 1:00. Im also thinking that the beach area where the humans all start is a good place to camp as its above water and so the "sharks" can be seen emerging from the water and shot at. The gameplay looks very good to from your video, and I definately want to play a game or two of this. A couple of improvements could be made: 1. Remove the beach area and block it off, to stop campers. 2. Maybe add some asthetics such as a dock with mock up boats in it in the small lagoon where the sharks spawn. This would make the map lookm much more intersting than just a load of rocks. 3. Expand the playing area to make more space for the humans. This could be done by using walls under the water to save rocks. Cool Map Overall, 7.5/10
The lighting effects are different, weird though since it makes the halo black with a random black hole above. But havn't heard much complaints during any match. Human aren't suppose to jump to different rocks. The only way to venture to other rocks is through the water (which is dangerous as you can tell) The beach area isnt too overpowered because the sharks can sprint quite fast onto the beach and humans can be easily overwhelmed. And seeing the sharks emerge into the water in common. But since players have shotguns and assualt rifles, its not easy to kill them with simple distant headshot. Suggested improvements (comments): 1. Camping is the whole point of survival. Sounds strange since everyone hates campers (even me). But really who would act brave and step into the water when you can't see anything. 2. Yeah I agree. I'm just not good at forging stuff like that. I tried making a sunken boat where the middle cave is, but it was a fail. It's why the map and gametype is named "lagoon" and "reef". 3. This is my third map. My other two are 3 to 5 times smaller than this and used the same max ammount of rocks. I have already used walls as the bottem for this map. I even have walls used for the top of the two caves just to save rocks. Also notice most of the rocks are made of seastacks to save even more rocks. Making this map any bigger with the same ammount of rocks is a great challenge. But so far I have played this map about 20+ times with full 16 player lobbies and havn't had a single complaint about the size. Appriciate the comments and suggestions though. I really do agree that maybe a dock or a sunken boat would make the map look better. I have tried, other forgers have tried to help, but it just took up space and took the "reef" feeling out of the map.
I always loved jaws in halo 3, and I've wanted someone to bring it back for a while. Definitely dling this!
