    Description and Blah, Blah:
Originally conceived as Thor's Hammer, due to the many variations in the design of Thor's hammer depicted in comics, movies, and TV series that I found while researching the shape of said hammer, I decided on a name change. That gave me more liberty in what it looked like. In the end, I don't think there was any degradation from the original concept.

The idea of Thor's Hammer came to me when I saw the movie trailer in the Fall of 2010, but probably wouldn't have if I hadn't already had the idea to make a map incorporating several things I'd seen done in other maps but on a larger scale than they had. The hammer's handle fit for making a HUGE circular stairway/ramp after I saw a map that had them a couple stories high. The large stairway came also out of a desire to build a map where Jet Packs would be the equipment of choice - even if I had no desire to use that loadout on a regular basis.

Another map I saw had the now famous elevator, or One-Way Shield lift (kudos and credit to the original creator of it). I absolutely had to build one of them, but on a more massive scale. Just another fit for the hammer's handle AND an alternative way to get from the bottom of the handle to the top and into the actual hammer part where most of the battling was expected to occur.

At the time of idea conception, which was near the end of the Forgetacular Contest submission time, several maps I'd seen included robotic arms. Clawdaddy (credit to the maker but I forget the GT) was perhaps the largest of them. It was a last minute idea before construction began, mostly by the co-Forger of Iron Hammer, INTxCRAYZ, to use robotic arms to give the appearance that the hammer was in the process of being constructed. That was only one arm though (the lowest one). The others were added after the map was mostly completed. Realizing there was still a lot of budget remaining, I saw a need to aesthetically make the concept more true to reality and have two more robotic arms, with huge magnets for hands, holding the hammer in place while the bigger arm does the work below.

The platforms and Man Cannons on the outside of the hammer's handle were late additions to the design also. Although awesome as it was with the elevator to shoot you to the top and the circular ramps to get you back down, I wanted more ways to not only come back down but also to get up. With the concept of the Iron Hammer being under construction, we decided to construct an outer platform - which sort of looked, and still does look like scaffolding without the legs. I added another platform later, because there was plenty of budget remaining, but more importantly, because it still needed more aesthetics.

It was INTxCRAYZ's decision to leave out the majority of heavy weapons, like the Rocket Launcher, despite my fierce opposition. I'm sticking to that story too. Nonetheless, there are a couple Shotguns and an Energy Sword to compliment a good set of weaponry that he did lay down.

In the end, I think Iron Hammer is a blast to play on, especially Infection, Oddball, and Crazy King gametypes. I hope you'll download it and play it with your friends. Then throw it a Like or Recommend to friends click. Of course, all constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Good job man!

I really like your creativity! I never fought someone would make a battlefield inside a hammer!

From the looks it seems that may have some great gameplay, however in some places I see that everything is a little exposed, well from my opinion, I haven't downloaded it so I can't really tell anything from the map.

    But looks really awesome.

Thanks. I think and hope you'll find enough cover inside the hammer area once you play on it. As always though, all gameplay feedback is appreciated. If someone were so inclined, removing the Kill Zones on top of the hammer or around the robotic arms wouldn't take too much effort or time. For that matter, someone might choose to clean the slate up top and make their own battlefield in the hammer. I'd love to see what others would do. :)

Very interesting concept. I hope I see more of your maps like this. They are way more interesting than traditional maps.
