"Vallation - a rampart or entrenchment; the act or process of building fortifications." Welcome to Vallation, my third competitive map project in Reach. When I first started to make this map, I knew I wanted a asymmetrical layout, and it would be my first. Vallation's layout is simple. It is a generic U-shaped map that was built with One-Flag in mind. Although that is what it was built for, there is no doubt that it is very fun with many other gametypes. One thing that makes Vallation unique is the rock path that leads from the defending base to the attackers and it makes it a easy way to cap the flag. The location of the map is pretty unique as well IMO and the ghost surprisingly works pretty damn well and is fun to use on the big pathways around the edges of the map. Glad to see this is finally up. I liked the changes you had made last time we played, and I'd say it's a pretty strong map for your first asymmetric attempt.
So proud of my little hallway... All grown up... *tear* But seriously. This map is fun times. From Team Camo to epic last-second Ghost-splatter flag stops, Vallation has something for everyone. Definitely a must-have map.
The presentation is great. I really like the map. Has multiple levels, The ghost lost naturally place and in a fair spot. The weapon choice is unique. Great job.
Berb <3 Vallation But really, I love this map. It is really good for objective games, especially one flag CTF. The rock passage is uber cool and it was really fun to test. This sort of gave me my inspiration for Pipeline (my newest project).

Who's that one guy everyone keeps on forgetting that helps test? Who knows.. Anyways, I loved playing on this map, the layout was well-designed and the gameplay was smooth, especially on CTF. While it wasn't the MOST aesthetically pleasing map, its teriffic gameplay makes up for that. Did you decide to remove the ghost? It didn't work well IMO. All round' this was enjoyable.
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I was focusing on gameplay instead of aesthetics...it's definitely more important. I ended up keeping the Ghost because a lot a people liked how it was incorporated and a lot has changed on the map. The initial place that the Ghost spawns at is a very nice area for it to cruise and patrol. It is easily defeated and in the control of a good driver can be pretty deadly. I appreciate the comment!
Nice to see this is done, I like the changes made to the central building near the ghost. This is a very fun 1 flag map (if you know how to use the rock path) and we had some great games here. While it isn't fancy, I think the map looks clean and looks good structurally, which is more important to me than bells and whistles on other maps (no offense Eightball, your maps look amazing!) I really need to post my maps soon, you started this about a month or two after First Tracks and still finished first! I'll see you on after finals are done in a week or so. Great job! 4/5 Oh yeah, I agree with Eightball about the ghost though, skinny map for any vehicle really, maybe it plays okay but honestly it could do without it.
Sorry I waited this long to comment. This map has only improved over time and I guess it had to be released at some point, right? I'm just glad I was able to help you improve Vallation, even if only in small ways. Can't wait to try your next project.
Wasn't this a co-forge at one point? I don't remember who it was with.. Buuuuut. Yeah. I really like the location you built it at, very new and unique. One this I was skeptical about from the very beginning was the "side base." It seemed very out of place and stuff. I don't know if you've changed it since then, though. Sooooo.. Yeah. You did a good job on this. Keep it up!
..I've tested this, haven't I? I'm too forgetful... Anyway, if it is the map i'm thinking of, it was great fun to play on. The layout was picked up straight away, and allowed you to easilt traverse the map without getting splattered by the Ghost. Incidentally, the Ghost felt balanced on the map, and it never created any frustration among the players. Definitely download this is you're looking for a great map to support a 4 on 4 party. I'd recommend Flag, because that was especially good fun.
Yeah I have changed the tower since then and Nibs helped me with that. Yeah it was kinda a co-forge in the beginning and i gave everyone appropriate credit.
