Pavilion Description Pavilion is a symmetrical map with many asymmetric factors sprinkled throughout. Pavilion is located in hemorrhage at the far end near the water. The theme of the map is a public park that has been affected by a war. The park includes three fountains, a scenic view of both a vast oceans and a green, rolling valley. Both on opposite sides of the map. In the middle lays a courtyard with four aesthetic park benches, a gazebo, and to top it off is rock garden surrounding it. The map also has two natural ways to get to each base and I think that I did a good job of having them equal. On the blue side, I forged a collapsed rock tunnel allowing players to be able to come up right into the blue base. diagonal to blue base is red base. To correspond with the blue base's natural tunnel there is a hill that allows players to walk right up to the red side. Inspiration Well, a couple people really did inspire me to make this map. First of all I would like to thank EightBall and JGarb for giving me permission to use a few of their unique touches, but in the end I decided not to use them. But they definitely did inspire me with their maps Breakwater and many of Eightball's maps. The "park bench" idea did come from JGarb so I'll give him credit for that. Also I would like to thank Cotton for advising me on a few parts of my map. As for my inspiration on the map itself, I really love the idea of turning an everyday location into a battlefield. I really took the public park idea to heart with the gazebo but while building I also tried to remember the whole war and disaster idea. I love this map great astetics and layout however i found a lack of cover on the map and btw its not the best idea to put a gravity hammer in a clear open spot thoe
From the looks of the pictures, the map looks epic. I really love how that rock tunnel looks and the shotgun spawn is sweet as well.
Such a beautifully forged map SquidMan. The aesthetics are amazing and everything on this map looks neatly forged. I can tell you tried to get creative and you did a great job at that. I also really like that you incorporated natural envoirnment into your map, it adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the map. I don't have any real complaints until I get a few games on this, but it looks great. Add me on XBL if you want to run some games on it. GT: iTz EightBall
This looks like a great map aesthetics look wonderful but i am all about game play. which from the pictures i think you nailed i can there are plenty of movement options and cover. it looks like it will play well. and thats what i looks for you have my DL great work! i will update my feedback once my buddies and i play this.
Wow, great job squidman! I love the look and the layout of this map. It looks very cleanly forged, and the aesthetics look very nice. The stairs look great(is that the ninja stairs i use?) and the waterfall looks awesome. Was it just me or did i see a secret rock passage to the bottom? I will have to download and find out. Looks great, and you did a great job Squidman!
Thankyou for commenting. Ninja Stairs? Not sure. I might have used that style. But why yes that is a rock tunnel. It is actually quite smooth too. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Will do thanks. And I did have a natural feel in mind while building thanks. Glad too know that my map appears to work well on gameplay standards.
Very nice! I love how the fountains look and I'm amazed at how different and great the map looks since i last saw it. We should definitely play some games on it. lol and thanks for the mention even though all i did was insult your rock garden and chase you with an energy sword. I think this was the longest you've ever spent on one map and me trapping you in a hamster cage and forcing you through obstacles like a more foulmouthed GLaDOS probably didn't make it happen any quicker. Oh and even though it's really beautiful, I still posses an uncanny hatred for that gazebo because of the hours I spent working on obviously inferior maps well you described it's every detail and why you thought it was so great. But seriously, I'm proud of you kid.
Oh yes, the hamster cage. Oh me constently annoying you about how great the gazebo was didn't reallly help you to like the map. But there have been many energy-sword-and-plasma-pistol-battles on this map. But you actually did help with the rocks I think they look more natural than they did before.
