Goosechase Stadium is a minigame map that supports two custom gametypes: Ballchase and Gluttonous Geese. The map itself is a giant bowl-shaped stadium, completely enclosed and specially designed for these frenetic, fast-moving games. As for the games:

Ballchase is a variation on rocket race. The core mechanics are the same - you and your partner drive a mongoose around, with the passenger blasting away (in this case with a concussion rifle, not a rocket launcher). And you're trying to win a rally by getting to 15 flag points. In this case, the flags are actually golf balls which are rolling and flying around. This game's recommended size is 3-5 teams of 2 players each. You can play up to 8 teams, but that will probably be a little too chaotic - I've found 4 teams to be about the sweet spot.

    Gluttonous Geese
is based on Haloball and pretty much just converts mongooses into goals. Drive one of your team's mongooses into a golf ball to score a point. Unfortunately there are some minor, uncontrollable quirks with this - I can't prevent people from stealing the other team's vehicles (not that that does you any good) or just running around on foot (though there are soft kill zones that only affect pedestrians through most of the stadium). Your best bet for winning is to make sure you stay on a mongoose that has a waypoint above it - those are your own team's goals. The game is also divided into 4 short rounds of 2 minutes each, so things should never get too crazy before a new round resets everything. One quirk which is more amusing than problematic - the constant barrage of sound effects from scoring seems to break the announcer's brain. My friends got a lot of laughs out of the announcer shouting "ACTION SACK!" and "10 SECONDS REMAINING!" at random times in the middle of rounds.

Very nice post, video, and game! This is one of the few games that I actually could not wait to be finished. I really like that you decided to make a rocket race variant for this AND a haloball. I think the rocket race may be more fun, but both sound worth playing for sure. Great job!

Great job with the presentation! The picture at the very top of the page is creative. I also like the fact that you have made two different game variants that work well with the map because, honestly I like the Gluttonous Geese game better. Great job here.

The stadium, and both gametypes are indeed fun to play, and I think each offers a unique take on the arena. Ballchase becomes a little more competitive since everyone is going for the same ball, and is often trying to twart the other team from getting to it first. Gluttonous Geese is a little more of using your driving skills to capture as many points as quickly as possible, but can also quickly become very competitive as well. I could see Goosechase Stadium becoming a staple of many TGIF parties, as its fast, entertaining, competitive and fun.

I saw myself in the video!
I did have fun with the ballchase game, Im personally not a fan of the glutenous geese game though. I think the balls gravitate to the corners too much and the teams just didnt really interact that much. As far as the ball chase game went though, I did have a blast. Next time you play I would love to be a part of it. Good job on the stadium too, its perfect for the games.

Thanks man. Personally I like Ballchase better too. I will say though that Gluttonous Geese plays better with more people, like as many as 16 of them. Once you get more participants, you have more passengers firing concussion rifles - that moves the balls around and the teams end up mixing it up a lot more. 6-8 people is really not enough for that game, especially if they all use their own mongooses, but with 12+ players there's not enough mongooses for everybody to drive their own, and that naturally improves the way the game plays. But the other night, I really just needed some footage to make a video, so I wasn't too hung up on getting more players. :)

Man, mini games are kicking everybody's ass at the moment and your good self and Darth seem to be leading the charge. Cant wait to play this in TGIF! Just wanted to comment on the map, I love the bowl-like curved nature off the map, I think that design just works so well with these types of game. I think these types of maps should always include that design in some way. Perhaps your map is like that just to fascilitate the balls rolling around, but it has another gameplay friendly effect. I've found whilst playing on these kinds of map that it is easier to lead your shots on the enemy from further distances on the curved parts than on flat parts. It sort of seems like it's easier to judge with your eyes because you've got more of a 3d perspective, if you know what I mean (kind of hard to describe). Anyway you guys are inspiring me to have a go at some mini-game creativity. GREAT JOB!
