I'll get straight to the point: most maps that are based on actual events or on Halo are not well made. Think about all the Pillar of Autumn recreations; look at what someone made, then look at the actual picture of the Autumn. 9 out of 10 times the recreated version will be missing key aspects. So, what is the point I'm trying to make here? Why am I making this thread? My goal from now until I get sick of Reach will be to "recreate the classics." This will encompass famous battles, objects in Halo, and anything else that will be enjoyable to the player. However, the catch here is that my goal is to not only make a fun map, but one that will make your jaw drop and say "wow." How will I achieve this idea of "wow?" Before every map I make, I do extensive research finding shots of all the different angles, interior design, exterior design, capacity, size, etc. What this will allow me to do is make the object I am creating look as close to the real thing or event as possible, thus, creating the "wow" factor." As a side note, all Map Files will be posted on my File Share. Also, my Xbox Live username is "ReconMercenary1" ----- I am currently working on the first recreation. When I am at a point that I like, I will provide pictures. However, here is a hint to what the first map I am doing is: "01928-19912-JK" ----- If you have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please let me know. I will be happy to answer any comments or questions you may have.
So are you making aesthetic maps, playable maps or both. Because I've been trying to remake a few campaign spaces from the previous halos and turn them into awesome invasion/competitive maps. I have had a bit of luck lately with this (map feature).
Not to be harsh, but you start out like most of those people that miss something out. There are unseen problems with this kind of stuff, mainly budget and pieces remaining.
