Skyrunner is a 4v4 slayer and objective map. I went into Skyrunner with the idea of three buildings interconnected by upper and lower bridge areas. DMR x 4 (30 s) NR x 4 (30 s) plasma pistol x 2 (30 s) spiker x 2 (30 s) needler x 2 (45 s) frags x 2 pairs (60 s) plasma grenades x 1 pair (25 s) hammer x 1 (120 s) plasma launcher x 1 (180 s) The top floor of the center building houses the gravity hammer, and has been dubbed the "Hammer Tower." The lower section is a continuation of the bridge that breaks off into two narrowly spaced bridges. There is a pair of grav lifts in the center that leads strait up to the hammer tower. These also act as a drop down, and deterrent for campers. The bases are a simple affair, consisting of a pair of ramps on opposite sides of the room leading to the upper bridge area, and vice versa Against the back wall you'll find a mancannon that launches you near the hammer tower. In my experience, headhunter and two flag are the strongest gametypes. Slayer and stockpile come in right behind them. All but territories and invasion are supported. The entire design process from first sketches, to building, to playtesting, has taken me about two weeks to complete. Skyrunner was always meant to be a testing ground of sorts for alot of cool map ideas(vertical combat/ cool jumps/ crazy mancannons). So there are still a few loose ends despite my moving forward with my next project. I am aware of these little issues, and am 99% sure on how to fix them. It would just take more time than i'm willing to put into this map right now to do so. Skyrunner was also a test for me on how to better plan out maps. All of the issues that this map has, stem mostly from faults in this process. I know now how to sidestep these issues, so am excited to move on to bigger and better maps. Anyways, i've rambled enough. You'll either love this map or hate it. I hope you enjoy! Any and all feedback is welcome. Thank you for reading!
very unique. i especially like the building in the center. it seems very original and you did a great job as a first map on the website. welcome to forgehub and keep up the good work. Map rating: 8.5/10
Thanks! I wanted to create something that didn't use the typical ground/ eye level sightlines. Separating the map into two distinct levels was the obvious solution. I originally wanted to make it all take place in one building. The two side buildings that later formed the red and blue bases, came much later in development. It was an unexpected, but welcome change in the maps design. It solved a lot of issues I had early on in creating pathways that were both fun to fight in, and also just navigate and explore. besides, it let me add mancannons. Everyone loves mancannons....
