I was always sure that another would be made. Just a matter of when. IMO, Far Cry 2 seriously underperformed and had gameplay elements that just weren't fun. That in part has to do with me having very high expectations for it. However, I'm very hopeful for FC3. If they can just iron out the kinks, I think FC3 could really be what I wanted FC2 to be. Not to mention it has the best in game map editor for a shooter ever.

I hope it doesn't suck as bad as FC2.

The single player at times felt so routine, and the random AI that have protagonist tracking GPS was one of my least favorite features.

The map editor without a doubt was the driving force behind the multiplayer, but the gameplay as Shataki mentioned was extremely weak. It has great potential, I personally however couldn't stomach more than 10 games total of matchmaking.

Also, ditch the Africa scene. Please.

The AI were freaking horrible in the campaign, and sneaking or approaching from behind was out of the question because they always knew your position.

The map editor was ridiculous, and having something that powerful on consoles was a great thing, too bad the gameplay kinks were too much for it, and the multiplayer died.

It really depends on the gameplay. It got insanely boring at times in the story, and the multiplayer felt pretty shallow at times.

The AI was definately the biggest problem for me, I loved sneaking right up until I got close. At long range though the AI acted semi-well, I sniped for the first half of the game and they'd run around and try to find me. And I know the missions were repetative, but I think better AI would have added more variety. As it was I just kept using different tavtics to make my own variety.

They put their Predator mode from FC: Instincts Predator back in and they have my buy.

Or really, any mode that isn't trying to be CoD.

I know I'm not the first to say this, but...it doesn't look very good at all. In a year with games like Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Halo 4, and Halo: Anniversary, this wasn't a good time to release such an average game. You might think otherwise, but either way, this game isn't going to sell very well.

That actually doesn't look that bad at all. Though is it still an RPG? Looks a bit linear there, but still looked great. Hopefully the multiplayer is polished up though, it had crazy potential but didn't really live up to it in my opinion.

Don't know why people are disappointed by this. FC2's main problem was that it wasn't directed. It was, quite frankly, too long of a game for the type of gameplay it provided. The world was huge, but empty other than enemy encampments. I think they've changed it to be exactly what it needs to be, a much more focused experience that still provides open areas to plan your attack.

And who knows, maybe it still is open world. The inclusion of XP, loot, and interesting characters really has my interests peaked.

The problem for me is that it looks like it could've come out in 2008. The graphics aren't top notch and the gameplay looks average.

I'm really wondering if it will have the amazing map editor, though.

For me the graphics look great, comparable to Crysis in my opinion. Love how it you can take the initiative to do whatever, sneak around, or run and gun.

You may not believe me, but I've got a funny feeling that something was wrong with Ubisoft's press conference, because their three biggest games (FC3, Ghost Recon, and AC Revelations) looked blurry and as if they were on SD televisions.

I've watched the trailer in 720p on Youtube now, and the game looks ****ing good. It's not the same art style as FC2; it looks less realistic, which is probably why you think it looks bad.

Also, I'd bet the map editor returns. They are aware that that was one of the redeeming features of FC2.

FC2 was, in my opinion, a sub-par game that had a few good ideas, but didnt expand on them and the game became far too linear, repetitive and boring for me to want to continue playing. I got it as a throw-in when I upgraded to an Elite 360 about a year and a half ago, and it was cool at first, but then it just kept doing the same things so I stopped playing it. It wasnt a bad game, just a not-as-good-as-it-could-have-been game. This, in comparison, looks much better, and I may end up picking it up and playing it all the way through.

Let me stop you and point something out:

They didn't show us anything new with that Call of Duty gameplay bit. It was MW2 if I ever played it.

As far as FC3 goes, or any game for that matter, I'm not too worried about what a game looks like. I want a game that plays good. Insomniac's new game Overstrike doesn't look too realistic, oh no. Am I too concerned with that note? Not at all. Those guys were responsible for some of the greatest games on the Playstation (Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, Spyro). Which leads me back to FC; the second game had some great potential but overall felt way too open, as previously mentioned. This demo showed what seems like a much more engaging experience, and semi-realistic AI (thank god). Also, the voice work is incredible, Vaas actually sounds like a bad guy.

I wouldn't care about the graphics if it were any other game, but I just expect a Far Cry title to look great.

Graphics shouldn't be a selling point.

This. Doesn't matter what the graphics are like, they aren't BAD, they just don't seem to be top notch.
That really doesn't take an awful lot away from the game, which actually looks pretty damn good.

I agree. I didnt think the game itself looked as bad as a few people are saying it did. Besides, graphics in a game arent why I buy games, I buy them for the gameplay. Why do you think people still play Minesweeper and Solitaire?
