My fileshare: Bungie.net : Reach : Service Record You'll need Halo Driving Range v2 and Halo Range gametype With the guidance of Scorch199 I was able to create a unique mini game in forge. It's a driving range where two players battle with a "Haloball" style gameplay. I was inspired to make it from watching Achievement Hunter's "Horse" videos. And it was basically built with submitting it to them in mind. There are some parts to it that need some tweaking and changing to make it a very functional game. My only issue is that I've started a new job and I won't get a chance to test and tweak like I originally wanted to. And it's soooo close to being done! (At least I think it is) So is there someone that would like to take over? Halo Range: The objective: To be the first player to gain 50 points Explaination and development (The long part): Each player has his/her own driving range box where they blast golf balls across the valley onto platforms many feet below. The ground being 1 point if the ball misses the targets. The players will want to hit targets to increase their score faster. Each platform has a number the player can gain from hitting it. Some higher than others. The idea was that the players would hit the platforms very consistantly so it was a more intense match. My thoughts were that they just needed to be moved slightly to more common places that the golf ball dropped but I haven't been able to adjust them. There is a bonus area that a player can hit and it's part of the ramp you see in the pictures. If a player can accurately hit it, the ball will be sent up via gravity lifts and collide with the floor that the opponent is standing on. The floor is made of crates which are held up by mines. Once the ball hits the mines, not only is the player rewarded the highest amount of points (9) but his/her opponent plummets to the ground as the floor underneath falls. And in true halo style the opponent warps and flies into the glass of the players box and suicides into his own readily prepared coffin. The floor for the opponent is meant to respawn before the opponent. (You'll have to try it out if that doesn't make sense.) One issue with the bonus that I found is that once you find the money spot to hit the golf ball you can basically not move and you'll hit the bonus everytime. Probably a game wrecker. I tried to make some adjustments to make it not work everytime, hence why there's a golf hole at the end of one of the ramps. So it will be something to look at. I was hoping it didn't have to get cut but if there is no way to make it function properly I guess there isn't a choice. As well there are obvious ways to avoid falling once the floor collapses. There isn't much more I can think of at the moment that could assist anyone willing to help but I will be here if you have any questions that may arise from trying it out. It would be nice to get it to a point where we could submit it to Achievement Hunter. I think they could have some fun with it and we can too! Thanks for reading.
I'll work with you to finish if you'd like! I have an idea to fix up the nine point shot and change the pace a bit too, if you have objects spawn in mid-session to change the possible target areas and how they are hit. Problem is I have a lot on my plate to work with, but if all it needs is a few touches, I think I can help! Also, thanks for the mention in the post!
A very creative use of the Haloball gametype. I look forward to trying this out myself and perhaps making a course of my own in the near future. I <3 Bungie for keeping things fresh for the forge community!
That sounds great! I'd love to see some of the ideas you have and help when I can. Don't feel rushed to work on it though. Just when ever you feel like it. I don't think it would take much to get the map on track. Thanks Scorch!
