TYPE-47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform - SCARAB

"We've all run the simulations. They're tough, but they ain't invincible!" —Sergeant Major Junior Johnson
The Type-47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform, more commonly known as the Scarab, is a Covenant mining platform adapted for use in combat.
Developed in an advanced construction site, Scarabs are mobile fortresses. The quadrupedal behemoths are typically deployed from low- or medium orbit, or from high atmosphere. They are used to attack heavily-defended structures and emplacements, and often lend quick, but unstoppable support to Covenant troops on the ground.
Scarabs are extremely powerful, possessing an exceptionally powerful plasma beam (mounted onto its "head") as well as one or two dorsally-mounted anti-air cannons. Their "bodies" are massive and multi-level, and they possess four legs. Unlike most Covenant vehicles, Scarabs do not use anti-gravity propulsion to move. Scarabs instead walk using their massive legs, which are surprisingly swift and precise given their size. The legs can also be used to crush enemy forces on the ground. It is thought that some amount of anti-gravity propulsion is used to reduce stresses on the massive legs.
Despite their enormous strength, however, Scarabs are quite vulnerable to being boarded; a Scarab's central core is protected only by the vehicle's external armor, so attacking the core is easy once an enemy boards the craft. A Scarab will also be temporarily stalled if its legs sustain enough damage, allowing a would-be boarder to simply jump into the vehicle's troop bay. To counter this, Scarabs typically carry squads of Unggoi and Kig-yar, as well as some Jiralhanae and Sangheili.

Hello all You may have seen I have recently made a scarab on reach, there were a load of things I wasn't happy with so I have started to remake. In this re-make I intend to make this scarab as accurate as possible. This is how far I have got so far and I intend to update pictures as I fix this scarab up.
I genuinly want opinions on how this looks and where it needs improving so that I can have this looking the business.

    Day 5
So looking through these pictures and comparing to an actual scarab, proportions are just way out so I have gone drastic in this next update...It still isn't finished but it is closer in size now more than ever.

I have just about finished the Scarab now, as far as I can get with the forge pieces I have made this as acurate as possible. I have gone into Halo 3 a couple of times to get on the scarab and to get screenshots and from the screenshots I have gone right around the Scarab making each section at a time. I am happy with the amount of detail. I have gone out on the Scarab by 1 degree so I will work out how to get that right and try to decide if this is going in aesthetics or will be made for Invasion map/one bomb assault/infection map. As this is made on the easter island map that I made and I want it completed and saved before I remove the previous map and make this into a different map.
I have a few ideas but am unsure what I am doing as the framerate is good without top weapon and having some issues with.
In the forging of the scarab, the choice of pieces and the clean lines I have tried to keep, I have improved frame rate.

    Day 7 - 8

    Day 9/10
So the scarab is just about done and I have added a game type too :)
As this is a Halo 3 Scarab, I thought it would be fitting to put it on the right level to do it justice, as I have put a lot of time into the scarab... So I have made the Ark as an invasion gametype. All is on and working and I would usually post this now as I have done the tests to see that all is working correctly, but I want gamplay to be as good as possible so this will be submited for testing on here and with a few of my friends.

Thanks to xSoGx Grim for help in suggestions and fixing the lower face. THANK YOU!!!

how much budget does it take to make the day one scarab? just like a pelican, a budget friendly scarab could support many maps.

I like the legs that are made out of 1 strut the ones that are made out of 3 dont look right.

thanks ... the first scarab was around 4500-5000 ... It is difficult to give an exact budget but so far around 5500 has been spent on scarab including all interior. unsure if that amount included the 3-5 mounted plasma turrets.

And thanks for feedback on legs... i have changed angle to the legs but they are a lot chunkier than the older version... i wanted to add the c cover and I needed to make the legs wider to fit. but I do see what you mean from original scarab pics.

I like the improvements on this, especially with the framrate issues. After you showed me, I could really see the difference in the new one you made. This looks great as usual.

    Thanks for the comments :)
The effects are just to show variety, the purple as the scarab is purple and usually dark in gameplay and the orange makes the scarab look purple... But in gameplay no fx is used. The rating is of no use to me I am afraid, what would have been more helpful would have been to tell me what I lost 2 points on. Or would that involve getting it to move? I do appreciate the comment, this post was intended for helping me get this to look as accurate as possible.

Since my last update inserting gause inside head, framerate has been reduced as the vehical is jammed in...and really doesn't want to be there, so I am trying to decide what to do. Aesthetically it is almost ready, but am unsure if I will add gametypes or just have it as an aesthetic piece. Thanks for the comments
