I've been working on a mini game map. It's actually a functional driving range. I have a "tee" set up on two seperate driving locations and the golf balls return to them. So two players can go head-to-head.

To have the golf balls return I decided it made more sense to hit into a wall, or in this case a grid. This way I can be sure the golf balls will continue their loop back to the tee.

Watch this video to get an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish because below might not make sense otherwise: Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details

Appologies for it not being rendered.

I was inspired to make this map after watching HORSE videos from Achievment Hunter.

Anyway, my issue is that I'm not sure how to make a game out of it. Right now I've set up land mines on the grid that each person attempts to drive a golf ball into. I feel that someone here might have a different idea that might make more sense in a vs mode. The mines work but I'm not sure if it will be very intense.

What I initially had in mind was to set up a floor that would fall for the Loser of the game. Which is why the current floor for each location are crates. As the loser plumeted down I'd have him/her warp near the ground to change direction but maintain velocity. The receiving teleporter would have the loser fly into the same wall the Winner was driving the golf balls into. And thus declaring the victor of the game. This would all happen very quickly.

What kind of game mechanism could I use to instigate the floors to fall? For those that don't know, Crates will fall if they are being held up by land mines and the land mines explode.

I have no more use of gravity lifts as I've used them all to loop the golf balls. Is there maybe another possibility that would make for an intense game? What kind of fun games do you think could be created with this Driving Range? Any help would be appreciated.

Try using the HaloBall gametype. Add score zones to the range and the ball will simply respawn at the tee.

As for the loser getting flung...that couldn't be done if you used HaloBall.
Unless...you made the leader traits make a player invulnerable, and all players get flung at the wall (if HaloBall has leader traits, I will have to check).
Make the mine locations worth more points, and you should retain the same game functionality.

Thanks for the reply. I'll see what I can do with your suggestion.

Edit: After messing around with the Haloball gametype I'm back to the drawing board as far as my driving range goes. I hadn't played Reach in a long time and didn't realize the gametype existed. So thank you for putting me in the right direction! It's exactly what I was looking for.

The gametype was only added in action sack about a month ago, don't worry. Glad I could be of assistance!
