NOTE: THIS MAP IS NOW PUBLISHED IN AESTHETICS CATAGORY Hello, this is a quick preview on what I am working on at the moment. I have built a chinese style building, the interior has 3 floors, there is a way on to the roof. There are a lot of stairs around. No spawning or gametypes yet...structure and layout first. Opinions and ideas would be a big help. Budget around $1500 left although there are columns and stairs that could be changed to free up another $1000 I intend to post this in the aesthetic catagory although I will have it working on gametypes too. Please let me know what you think, and any ideas would be a big help! Thanks for looking
:O This looks awesome. I love the simple aesthetics and I have always liked the Chinese architecture, and I think you have captured the style really well. I also love the lanterns, but I think maybe making them a little smaller would be cool, but I can't really think how you would do this. The only main problem I can see is the pillars that "support" the structure seem to be floating on air, rather than in the water, although this could simply be the screenshots and camera angles you used. Cool Map Bro
Thanks for your feedback. The pillars, I know what you mean but the funny thing is that I tried putting structures right down under sea level and you couldn't see them. But you have a good point , maybe I could make some rock pillars to help the structure. And the lanterns do look too big, I tried them last night and liked them so have kept although I can change. I will see if I can make them smaller. I have also added smaller lanterns around the building using capture plates. Appreciate the feedback
Look pretty sweet! Aesthetically the pointed corners look kinda tacky to me. If you can afford it I'd recommend having a second piece to blend it into the roof more, so that there isn't such a sharp triangular angle down into the roofline. If you try and make this for gameplay I'd try to have the temple be accessible from the back through the water. If the only path in is that front bridge it would be bad gameplay.
Thanks everyone for ideas and comments, this is now released in the aesthetic catagory. Thanks for looking
My god, the rock structure is just lovely. Aside from that though, I think Matty would have a few complaints about this. Matty's been working on a Pagoda map, and he's told me all about the necessities of Chinese architecture. I wish that this would work for some sort of gametype, but I doubt that that'll be much of a possibility.
This works on loads of gametypes, and I am unsure which matty you mean as I know a few on xbox now and why they will be complaining??? I'm sure I'll find out Thanks for your feedback. This preview is now fully operational & released in aesthetics catagory.
is the map lagfree? looks nice for free for all / infection would be great i guess maybe you could add for infection a FX making it darker, would be cool i think so all together, good job creativity 100% and well froged
Thanks, I'd rather talk on the preview about lag than the offical post that I have just posted. Inside the structure framerate was avarage - good, and that is suprising considering how many objects with lights are inside the building. One friend was saying there were a few places where he had minor framerate issues. As I forged this and have been on this map many times the frame rate is improved for me.... It is all so confusing to be honest , but apparantly framerate is improved on maps if 1 you have them stored on your hard drive and 2 you have been on the map once or twice. There is 400 budget left, so adding a fx is a possibility, but as this is posted in aesthetics, frame rate is not as much of an issue as say me posting the map in competitive. But in tests no complaints. Thanks for your comment.
I would say DO IT! I can imagine some sweet rounds of infection at night in a chinese temple. Would be just epic feeling, all the corners etc.
