I'm new to Forge Hub so I apologize if I did something wrong. Anyways, I've messaged recent players about the maps on my file share and it doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone tell me how everyone on Top Downloads got there?
My guess would be word of mouth. Say your friend downloads a map and proceeds to show you it. You find this map awesome so you download it, then you show another friend who shows another friend who shows another friend. The downloads are going to really depend on if your map is fun. That's all it comes down to in the end.
Most people post there made and tested maps in the specific area on forge hub and members/guests take a look and if they think its good they download and mayb recommend it to there friends. It takes i think mayb 150-200 downloads to get on the first 2 pages.
My friends are aware of the maps and they've recommended it to their friends but still not a lot of downloads. I'm also new to forge hub so posting maps on here seems a little difficult at this point.
I'd say that you need to ask yourself "Is this map any good" but thats not really what gets you on to the Most Downloaded/Recommended lists. Most of the maps seem to be spaceships, rollercoasters/race maps or maps for Achievement Hunter's HORSE. I downloaded a few and none of them were something I'd aim for when trying to make a good map. Its nice that Bungie added those lists, its a shame that the majority of stuff uploaded is so terrible.
I would have to say a map that plays well, unbreakable, and is fun to play. Not pointless objects scattered about for a Mongoose Challenge track. I do have to admit, some of the Rac maps are decently good. But ya, just take time with your maps, show them around to your friends, and just see if they'll help you.
