So, I figured I'd try my hand at Infection. People love it, it's easy to play, and it's great for custom parties like TGIF. However, I don't like the matchmaking version, and I am tired of all the rip-offs of Chris and Sweeny's Manifest... therefore I'm attempting something a little different.

The gametype is called Survivor. Real original, I know. Regardless, it goes as follows...

The survivors (humans) will spawn, choosing their main weapon. It can be the Assault Rifle, the classic Shotgun, or the DMR. Every loadout is pre-equipped with Sprint and a Magnum as well. They have no shields, but have very high health. Whenever they are attacked, they lose some of that health and it does not return. This makes it quite easy for them to tell how close they are to death. If one of the survivors makes it all the way till the end of the match, the survivors are awarded the points, winning the game.

Now, to make it interesting for the infected (zombies), I have chosen a more interesting approach. They are still weak. They still have unlimited lives and will probably die more than any of them are interested in. However, now they have choices on how they want to approach their assault. Alpha zombies are immune to headshots, and are mildly stronger. Their sole goal is to wipe out all the survivors in the time given. If they succeed, they are given the points and win. If they leave even one survivor, they lose.

The following are the loadouts for the infected:

    • ZOMBIE: Energy Sword | Evade
    • STALKER: Energy Sword | Active Camo
    • BERSERKER: Gravity Hammer | Sprint
    • SPEC OPS: Focus Rifle & Plasma Pistol | Jetpack
    • DECEIVER: Spiker & Plasma Pistol | 1 Plasma Grenade | Hologram

    And that's that.

    OUTNUMBERED | The map

This was designed based on Lost Platoon from ODST and Unearthed from the Defiant Map Pack. I wanted a different approach to the infection style. Therefore, I combined infection with Firefight. There are a few power weapons on the map for the Survivors to use, but they are only there once, so use wisely. Additionally, there are 4 health packs. Those will be the most important, and only spawn once. There are also 2 ammo crates located on the map to refill your ammo. You can also change your weapon if you so desire. Lastly, there is a one-time only Gauss Hog for wrecking the infected, but drive carefully, because it doesn't take too much to destroy the vehicle.

All credit for the crane design goes to ThrowinDemBows. I stole it from his map.

    Testing coming soon.

Not too shabby for a first infection map. I do like the firefight feel but the zombies having ranged weapons is debatable, it gives the survivors another weapon to choose from, especially the focus rifle. I would like to have a go at this if I could just to see how effective it is and how it plays out (ex: the class get's spamed?) Either way looks fairly good :)

I doubt humans will like the lack o health recharge when zombies have focus rifles. I figure it'll just turn into wearing down the humans health until they die. I doubt the zombies will use anything except focus rifles and humans will stick with DMRs.

I forgot to mention that the damage physics are all changed. Focus rifles aren't like a power weapon. They are just for if humans are being overly campy or you can't get ahold of the Hog.

Also, with Alpha Zombies being immune to headshots, I don't know that the DMR is the most spectacular choice either. Intelligent players will choose the AR.

All of this is guessing games until I actually test. It could go perfectly balanced like I plan, or completely awful.
