Hello dear Forge Hub members (If you're a guest GO and get you an account ) I'm gonna make an overview picture soon (tomorrow/ if I got time, but could be monday, since I got friends waiting after work xD) to give a good explanation, so for now, you're just gonna get some random pictures... Update!!: Spoiler I started to work the map out in Sketchup, If I got it (and it's quite fast to build it there) I'm gonna give you some pictures of it or the model itself to look it up in sketchup if you want to (since it's a little bit complicated to get the whole map in the mind from only a few pictures Pictures: (A mix of old and new Pictures (don't be confused, will soon update every pic and overview and so on^^) I have put "UPDATE!!" in front of new pictures There are changes in map geometry (wall and some cover and small aesthetic on top mid LATEST Pictures *click spoiler* Look the other ones and read to get an idea what the map's lookin like now... Spoiler I'm trying different variants of buldings and cover... so the final version could be different. OLD and last update Pics Spoiler The mainspecific thing about this map are the 8 big Pillars. Like in Pit, you got 2 ways out of the base and one way out right in the front. one way leads to a mancannon which leads you to the one side of the map where the sniper is supposed to spawn, but it's much more complex and it's much too much to write now to give you a good explanation^^ with the coming overview it's gonna be much easier for you and for me View to the whole map (one side not yet forged^^ how you can see) left = red base, right = blue base the middle (top and bottom mid ) UPDATED!! Top Mid and view to red base Sniperspawn right near the edge up there maybe, might be on a different place, since you got a perfect place to snipe right at the spawn then, which isn't always good... UPDATED!! Jump from top mid to "Sniperspawn" (I'll call it that way now though) underneath "sniperspawn platform" you can go into one of the lifts bringing you up or go through the middle, into the back of this side, whehere tha basemancannons lead you... or straight onto the enemy base. UPDATED!! View from picture above, 180° turned (direction to base) UPDATED!! Jump from S1 to S2 ("Sniperspawntower") UPDATED!! In front of Red Base UPDATED!! out of red base, view to middle Mancannon from redbase to red landing (where the next picture is) red landing, where another mancannon leads you to the back of the one side of the map (in the back from the sniper spawn platform, but downstairs) back of the sniper spawn, you're landing right before the stairs from the mancannons on the landing platforms in the corner of the map. from there you can either go upstairs to sniper spawn platform or walk out and you're on the way to enemy base... There will be much more cover and stuff, that's ONLY the basic geometry Also I'm not sure what exactly to put on the other side... I thought about getting a lower level where the rocket spawns, and a way in the back, where you're staying in the same level as the ground floor, in front of the base.. The rocket could spawn on a platform where you can jump to from the lower middle level. Tell me your ideas, maybe we can find a good solution^^ and feedback please what could possibly give troubles or sth... that's my first own creation of a map so im not expecting a perfect map from 0 _______________ ALSO if someone got an idea for a name I don't really got any idea right now, usually that's no prob for me... maybe something with water because I specificly built it so low, that there's some water as "dead zone" in the map waterground? i dunno... xD
Do you plan on leaving it all open like this? I'm diggin' the map. It looks like there would be a nice flow for gameplay.
if you mean the one side whre is simply nothing, then you should read my post (under the pictures) but to answer simply: NO it's not gonna be opened like that, and there will be much more cover and stuff, but I'm not gonna put a roof upon the whole thing, because I enjoy seeing the sky No, but I'm bored of only interior-fights, therefore I decided to keep the middle of the map "outside" and some parts of the map more or less interior-area thanks for your comment I had many many ideas for the whole map itself, and there were much variants. Only the 8 big pillars where my ground structure and the layout of the bases (which comes mostly from The Pit) But I also think (or hope ) that gameplay will be nice and the flow on the map seems just right to me... I tried to build a map many times, but I never had such a good feeling Therefore I'm really motivated to get this map done asap (but I got so much to do in my freetime with my friends x.x ) About the overview... I worked the whole friggin day -.-* I tried to draw one between anything that looked like a small break but I didn't had any breakxDDD and now I'm kind of too tired to get myself up to draw one or do it in photoshop lol but SOON mai frieenddzzz...soooooon
It looks pretty cool. I think you have an interesting, simplistic yet entertaining design. I expect you will do aesthetic/cover touchup (as you metioned in your above post) before release, so I'll ignore that factor for now. The two mancannons in succession are the only real issue I see here. Is the only way to that platform a mancannon, and is that also the only way off? It seems like a good map and I believe it has a lot of potential! Definitely continue to work on this.
thanks for your comment but there's definitely enough space and ways to get up there without mancannons I'll explain it because from the pictures, it's a bit complicated to recreate some map in the head. you can get yourself into the mancannon and as soon as you enter the 2. one, your being shot into a room with stairs and stuff, or your heading right to the enemy base, on the lower level (if so you're coming along underneath the "sniper spawn platform". Ways to get up to the platform: stairs in the back, 2 lifts on the side, or the jump from top mid^^ I made sure there's no tower position like where noone can come up except from one spot and that would be camped or so. there's definitely enough space to get a sniperkid down there, so not really some ultra position, better for gameplay I guess. and jeah^^ aesthetic/cover touchup will be made of COURSE
Looks good, it has this special look i can't describe. If you polish it i'd think it will turn out great. My tip: put the walkways you used for ramps upside down, i think it looks sloppy. Just my opinion though.
do you mean in the back room, where you can go up to "sniper"? (love how I always have to say sniper because the only remarkable thing there is the possible sniper-spawn xD) I think so, and yes, great idea hadn't thought of it yet, but I also had the feeling that this ramp doesn't fit in the whole style the way it is, so obviously, you just found an awesome soultion to get it nice, and not use several blocks to get something cool thanks man^^ also thanks for the comment Update @ Rsvi Etzudee: I changed the ramps (only the 2 upper ones though) and it's much better now. underneath them is now place for spawns / grenades or anything without annoying sidewalls of the ramps in front of your face while at the same time having cover when going upstairs -> perfect BUT i did forget to take a picture from the room next update thanks anyways for the good idea [br][/br]Edited by merge: UPDATE 2 ^^ If you would reply what would be a good soultion for the other side which is left empty... I thought about making some kind of tower with a machinegun (which can be taken out by sniper rifle from other end of map), but maybe it would be better for the gameplay if I just build some narrow pathways and few buildings and more of a small area, it would fit into the image of pit (rocket spawn) and i wanted to put the rocket on this side, too, so it would be nice^^ what do you think??
