If there is one thing Bungie can do to fix Firefight, it's this: add set skulls, meaning you can customize the skulls for each set up to, say, set 50. That way when you're playing on unlimited sets, every set is different. This is how it was in ODST, every set had different skulls so that each one was harder than the last. But then, while adding all the cool new customizable features to Firefight, they forgot the most important aspect of Firefight: trying to survive as many sets as you can. Now the main version of Firefight is one set, which is plain old boring. So I think Bungie should add a set skulls option to Firefight and make a new Matchmaking playlist called Firefight Survival, where the team has 10 lives and must survive as many sets as they can, each one being slightly harder than the last, and also add a playlist called Firefight Survival Classic, where the team has 7 lives and every set has the same skulls and enemies as in ODST. Who agrees that Bungie should fix Firefight and bring back the good old times? Another nice thing Bungie could do to fix Firefight is add a limited ammo crates option. Currently, the only options for ammo crates are none and unlimited, but I think we should be able to have ammo crates that have a limited supply, but are refilled every round like in ODST.
It went from being an actual survival-based game to some point-whoring fairy crap. I don't like it. I think it should be killed.
I usually do Firefight limited for that reason. Though, to be fair, unless you enter matchmaking with a full team, you'll probably get paired with someone who decides to consume all the lives and ruin the game. I'm not saying that ODST FF wasn't better, but elites definitely make the Halo: Reach FF a great deal more difficult, often to the point where surviving a single set with an incompetent team is nearly impossible.
Make your own FF, in MM, it's just points whoring or AFK's. I have my own settings which make you fear elite and hunter rounds, while still not being boring.
How about just re-enabling weapon pickups. FF used to be my preferred playlist (and no, I wasn't a FRG-*****, I just suck at Snipers) but now I haven't played but one game. They completely ruined it by sticking you with default weapons and nothing else. Not even grenade pickups! wtf
I actually enjoy FF Limited. To be honest, I think cR payouts should be based on actual game performance... kills per minute divided by lives or something like that. That way inactives won't get ****... and neither will players that use up all the lives.
That would actually be a really good idea. However, does the game continue on for multiple set or only for one in MM? If it's the former (which it really should be), then that would end up penalizing those who survive longer because, in the end, they'd end up receiving more lives (given that each new set provides the player with new lives) and therefore using more lives. Otherwise, that'd be a good representation of how well an indivudual performed in FF.
Yeah but with that every set has the same skulls so there's no gradual increase in difficulty and it gets extremely boring after like 2 sets.
I prefer my game to end or have a time limit. Firefight gets really monotonous after a couple of rounds. When I say lives, I mean deaths +1 or times you've spawned/respawned.
I just liked it so much better when the goal was to survive as long as you could, not just rack up as many points as you can in one set.
