Invasion: Highlands! Yay! I've got a working version of this map up in my File Share. When I say 'working' I mean all the required objects and items for a game of Invasion from start to finish, I don't mean a totally perfect version of the map. PHASE 1! Spartans are on Defence for this map, so it'll work with the default Invasion gametype, but I have set up additional objective items so you can use any gametype variant (as long as Elites are attacking) which may lead to some odd gameplay (like extracting a bomb from the enemy place and blowing up the middle of nowhere...) Gosh, thats an informative screenshot. Elites' Phase 1 spawn is in and around the caves. Phase 1 takes place place in the West half of the map, around Red Base and the caves. Spartans can respawn inside the fan tower or the Western platform of the base. Upon capturing the teleporter module or the Covie-box, the Elites are rewarded with a ghost and the teleporter opens, giving quick access to the motor pool (one way teleporter). Teleporter tested. If you have a phased teleporter, you can still use it even if the receiver hasn't spawned, tested and fixed so you can't teleport until phase 2 (even if you do, in phase 1 in teleports you out of bounds!). From now on, the Caves and Red Base remain as Elite backfield spawns Spartans can now spawn at Blue Base and the near by cliffs for the rest of the game (as well as each fire team having an additional spawn around the Blue Base Area). In their defeat, Spartans get a Warthog and their own teleporter gets them to the waterfall. PHASE 2! Phase 2 removes the death barriers and the whole map is open! Elites must capture the 2 (currently) useless man cannons. They're partially buried, dig them out! Success! The Island man cannon gets you close to the front of Blue Base. The Pelican man cannon gets you through the repelling towers. PHASE 3! The Elites' fire team spawns now move a little bit closer and 2 new ghosts spawn at the Cave and Red Base. The Spartans get a Rocket Hog The Core is up on the base. Getting to it is the easy part, the hard part is getting it half way back across the map! As I said, a version of the map is in my file share if you want a better look. The objectives work but I'll need to get some testing done later this week
LOVE the idea. although, you might want to change the idea a little. it would be correct if the spartans had offense and the elites had defense because there is a crashed pelican and the covenant is glassing the planet. so i dont really think that the covenant would still be trying to steal power cores, most likly it would b the other way around. it is just an idea, dont take it personally.
Oh teh noes! I am also working on an invasion highlands map, our 1st phase is Identical! But the rest is different good luck buddy
Other than capturing a base, my only other idea was having Spartans escaping from the crashed pelican, but that was more of a casual game type (it involved capturing warthogs before I realised you could drive hogs off the cliff but they wouldn't respawn, they'd just took the capture point with them!)
I think I just got your first DL I'll try it out. I don't enjoy Invasion as much as other gametypes, but I was definitely looking for Highlands Invasion as soon as it came out. I'm kinda glad you didn't put any air vehicles. Did you test it with any? Maybe a Banshee/Falcon combo would work? What's the worst that could happen? You just delete them afterwards lol. Thanks, I'll try to give feedback if I remember XD
This is a pretty good idea. Also even though it would be really small it might be great to have a condemned invasion with the covenent invading the station. I also kind of have to agre with the fact that it would be better if it were the spartans invading. While the base is infact the spartan training facility you could still say that the spartans are taking back whats theirs.
Actually, this is probably the first time I've EVER seen a thread about an invasion map where I didn't immediately think, "Nope, ur bad". Haven't DL or played yet so don't quote me on that but obviously if functions, the territories are at a reasonable distance from each other, and the map itself doesn't allow the monstrosities that we've seen from Forge World. You sir, may very well be a genius. I download and playtest Invasion maps every week with a full party of 12. If you don't mind I'd like to give your map a try. I'll leave feedback as well as screenshots and video from my perspective in my fileshare. If you are interested in joining in message me. Not sure when the next playtest will be but I'll send you a message on Live if I get the chance! :fingers crossed:
Looks cool and it's nice you made a Map not on Forge World or Tempest but from what i can see i have a few suggestions to smoothen Gameplay: Since the Map is pretty open, give all DMR and Needle Rifle Loadouts only one Grenade, also put some more cover and change recharge rate to 110%. Sustitue Assasin by Spec Ops which is basically the same but it has Evade too instead of Active Camo. Also, unlike Bungie does, not every Invasion Map needs Banshees, Rocket Launchers and Snipers since they only slow down gameplay and encourage killlwhoring. Wraiths, Scorpions and Revenants are a big no-no too. Plasma Launchers, Spartan Lasers, Warthogs and Ghosts are okay. Also you could give a team Weapons which will become a primary Weapon in one of the Loadouts of the next Tier. So in the 1st Phase you give both Teams Needle Rifles and DMRs and in the 2nd Tier you give them Energy Swords, Concussion Rifles, Grenade Launchers and Shotguns. Turrets would also be cool. I wrote this with my experience from Matchmaking Invasion... Which is a piece of broken crap.
I've got an Invasion: Highlands concept myself that I'm working on. I'm still touching it up, but I'll let you guys know how it turns out. [br][/br]Edited by merge: Actually, I just put it on! Check out my own Invasion: Highlands page!
