As many people know by now, there is a sort of civil war going on in Libya. Just recently, the US as well as the UK and France have begun to establish a no fly zone. Fox News stated that there are now 19 nations involved.

I find it funny how delusional gaddafi and his son are. I mean.. half a nation and the rest of the world hate us, FIGHT THEM TILL THEY CHANGE!!!

my parents are hypocrites, my brothers and sisters are hypocrites, my friends are hypocrites, my teachers are hypocrites, the people who run my country are hypocrites, just about every single person I have ever seen or spoken too will have done something hypocritical in their lives... but then you have gaddafi.. geez, you need a whole new word for him. I prefer to use the word '****'.

So what is achieved by establishing a "no fly zone?" I'm not trying to make a point or anything, I just really don't know what it does.

It theoretically will stop Gadhafi's forces from using aerial weapons and bombardment to harm the people of Libya.

at the moment the coalition forces are too afraid too attack gaddafi forces because they are too close to civilians.. the only way would be to actually go in on the ground to eliminate the libyan forces in the cities, which is strictly forbidden.

(yet the americans still go shoot at the people who helped their pilot who crash landed)

They are only trying to suppress his forces so that whatever the next step may be, it will be easier. The most likely to me is that they will arm the rebellion to take over all of the cities up to Tripoli, and then bombard the city until Gadaffi surrenders.

They are really pushing the idea of killing Gadaffi off in the UK. I think it's pretty absurd, considering everyone with an unbias say on this, including the UN, have already stated that it is illegal to aid in the Military killing of Gadaffi.

in all honesty, I dont care if gadaffi is killed or not. I just want whatever it takes to make him step down. I would even let him run for presidency, as long as there was democracy, and the people of Libya decided for themselves. For all we know, a majority of Libya may still support him (even though that is quite unlikely). However the problem with that is it would be an unfair election as I have no doubt he would bribe many of his people.

in my opinion, the UN should take a more active role in creating international law in how a country should be run. Primarily, democracy should be a human right (as it already is) and therefore compulsory, with the intervention of international military forces if there is evidence for corruption in elections with refusal to hand over control of a country.

Democracy isn't the perfect form of government. I don't know what is, but democracy as it is today is not perfect in any sense.

I think the general human right should be freedom. Freedom and democracy are two different things.

President Obama is talking about handing the responsibility of reenforcing the no fly zone off to NATO. That's all great and all, but the US is the majority of NATO. What's another couple million dollars to the deficit, right?

Lol, and we were complaining about communism taking over the world when people think like this...

Personally I think this will become just another unwanted war. Without sounding like too much of a ****, it would have been much better had we left it to someone else to deal with the Libyan problems. America is being ****ed up the ass with our own problems, and we can't really handle another "Police occupation" like we have been doing with Iraq for nearly 10 years.

    Different place, same story.

Yes, putting ourselves in another stupid dilemma. Why can't we just fix our own country first and let everyone deal with their own problems...

Mubarack (spelling is unimportant) was smart to step down from office when he saw that this would do good for his citizens. On the other hand, Gaddafi let the power go to his head. He actually denied a lot of obvious statements about the situation, if I remember correctly. He is, how should I put it? Ignorant and stupid.

    That is all.

It's funny how many times I've heard the phrase "History repeats itself", but man this is almost exactly like some of the stuff that was going on 30-40 years ago. Let's just hope it stops soon.
