Version 2 now. As before this map started out as me just wondering if I could build the tunnels from Beaver Creek by memory and just went from there. I kinda miss the original, it was a good solid go to map for just about any gametype in Halo: CE. Unfortunately the original geometry doesn't seem to work in reach, else the true remakes would play better. So I took my favorite parts of the original map and put them on Creekless. The base layouts are more or less the same other than the interior walls are thinner allowing more space to move around in. Same for the tunnels. I've widened them and added a glass window and large slit that allows you to look through to the other bases tunnels. And if you're good you can even get a grenade across. And instead of having the rock structures in the middle and for the sniper perches, I've added a much smoother platform to hold the middle power weapon and turned the sniper perches into structures in their own right. Now onto the pictures. Overview of base layout The Sprints you can see in the back room of the bases are only there in the 2v2 tournament version. Weapons on map: set up symmetrically except for GL DMR x 6 -- 2 at initial spawn, 1 against rock garden Assault rifle x 6 -- 2 on base roof, 1 against centre ramp outside base door Needler x 2 -- Back of sniper room Plasma rifle x 2 -- long ramp up to base roof Plasma pistol x 2 -- middle of lower roof level Shotgun x 2 -- in tunnels leaning on 'doorway' *90 second spawn 1 clip* Sniper Rifle x 2 -- sniper rooms against outer lift wall *90 second spawn 1 clip* Grenade Launcher x1 -- on rock at top of centre platform *120 second spawn 4 clip* In addition: Plasma grenades x 8 -- in groups of two in tunnels and bridge from base roof to sniper. Frag grenades x 8 -- in singles on either side of interior ramps to tunnels, tunnel up to front of base, with assault rifle at centre platform ramps and on base roof. And now the action shots: Any feed back appreciated. DOWNLOAD LINK Thanks to Camofo for making the pics look so pretty. Also thanks to Rurak Karuda (no idea if I spelled that right Kuda) and several others for those random test sessions. BT and DtL for advice on layout and item useage.Sarge for making me make a clean post instead of my usual laziness. Chuck for noticing this one doesn't look like a church. And Anyone else who helped. But a big thanks to Chrst and Shadow Viper who think there is no reason to go for the grenade launcher.
Oh my god you murdered my name so badly haha. Anyways, this is one that I had a great time on. The grenade launcher especially just DESTROYS everything, and the Risk vs. Reward for its area works out really well. The interior of the bases is pretty fun too, especially with the drop down holes.
So, I haven't played a game on it yet, but I will next time I get some bros together. I just wanted to comment on how smoothly everything looked while I walked around on it. This is what Reimaginations should look like. It's interesting and creative, and you didn't ruin the overall feel of the map while making it something fresh and new. I give you a round of applause on that end. I'll have to hold the applause on gameplay until I experience it. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next project.
The GL destroys for you because you can kill anyone, even on your own team, in one hit with it. I think it's more a statement of your skill with it than the map dude lol. Being able to intentionally betray me from across the map.... If I'm on when you do invite me. I still have not been able to get a full group of 8 together to play on it. All my tests were 2v2.
I like the original take on Battle/Beaver Creek. I never would have expected that bigger bases and a smoother middle structure would help this map be so much better than the original. I still like Beaver Creek more for the sole reason of nostalgia, but this map totally amazed me. Great job. 9.6/10
I'm so happy to see this map stickied! I'm quite happy you updated the map. The changes you made definitely helped the map in terms of performance (and that pesky center structure I kept bugging you about =P). The map certainly pays homage to the original, but definitely adds some new twists and turns for reach. Fans of the original will love this map!
Nice map. The lines of sight are just long enough with enough cover to allow really tactical gameplay. Looks great too, love the tunnels underneath, not that they saw much use in the game I had on it, but that wasn't due to the map, just the way the game went. Feels quite MLG to me.
