So there is this community effort to get a Classic playlist up for matchmaking. Jeremiah said that he is actively working on it and to expect it sometime in March. They are actively watching the Classic Gametype Thread in the Optimatch forum for ideas so let us know what you think of those proposed settings. These are the most accurate settings to ever grace anyone's Halo Reach experience and are there for Bungie to model their settings after. Also it wouldn't be classic without remakes. There is a thread on the Reach Forum(bungie.net) that has a collection of the best remade maps that are around. Some maps have been edited slightly for better performance while others have seen a complete overhaul. You may see one of your maps featured in there for all you know! Please check out all of those maps and if you have any that are better please submit them. The goal is to not have to rely on Bungie to provide remakes for us. This playlist IS happening so your further support will help make it great. Here's the Halo Reach Classic youtube channel.
I saw this thread earlier on B.net and was really pleased to find out that it's being implemented. Even though it'll be far from my most played playlist I think it's a great way to provide for a large demand within Reach's customisation options. I'll certainly be keeping a keen eye on discussion and contributing where I can, first thing I did was check if that map list included Mac xL's Guardian remake, was happy to find that it does . Thanks for the heads up, I'll look forward to seeing this playlist materialise.
Woot one of my maps made it! Can't wait for the playlist. For anyone that cares, there's a nice remake of District (H2:V) in there, as well as a good Sandtrap (it's called Greytrap, I think?) They do have a Timberland remake, but it's not very good...at all. ------------------------------------------------------- Also, for the classic games, I feel that Bungie should turn on preferred species. We had the option to be an Elite in 2&3; why not here? (I'm aware that Spartans and Elites are actually different now, but surely this can be tweaked.)
Grats on the map! I'm excited for this. I am glad to see bugnie's response to the community of players (myself included) that are disappointed with "Reach's new gameplay direction" This could be cool. This and mlg will be my top 2 playlists
It missed the march date but thats b/c Jeremiah is looking for remakes to include in it. It is definitely coming out in April now.
This is incredibly badass. Also, was anything mentioned about these maps for the playlist, or is that map list just a suggestion of what Bungie should put in?
Player Speed 120% Jump Height 125% Player Gravity 200% Damage Modifier 110% Melee Modifier 50% Damage Resistance 90% Shield Recharge Rate 110% Health Recharge Rate 110% Per Jeremiah, subject to change
I can't wait for this. If there are also going to be remakes in the playlist... I can't wait for this.
Remakes? That would make this playlist at its best. OP, has Jeremiah or any of the other Bungie employee's mentioned this yet? It would make going back to Halo 2 not even matter any more for me if this were to be implemented into the classic playlist, which is saying a lot. You've made a great example in how an effort made by the community can actually mean a lot. I hope players in the future who say Bungie doesn't listen, myself included, think back to what you helped create. I can't believe this will actually be added into Reach. I'm saying goodbye to every other playlist for good if there are remakes in here. I couldn't imagine a playlist with maps as great as Foundation, The Pit, Midship, Elongation, Damnation, Narrows, Construct, and if there is a BTB version of this playlist, Coagulation, Containment, and Headlong. This is the one thing that would make Reach a good game for me, and many other long-time Halo fans that were disappointed in Reach's gameplay.
Jeremiah has mentioned that there were checking out some remakes at the moment, but that he can't say yet whether they'll use them or not. I really hope they do.
Well, not all maps CAN be remade without getting huge lag problems and things of that sort, but I hope he can find a map with the perfect balance of the two. Construct is a good example of this. To get the map aesthetically accurate, you're very likely to run into some lag problems, no matter what. I think Elongation and Desolation may be the same way, considering that I haven't seen a single attempt to remake either of those maps. Although they weren't hugely popular, they were amazing maps in my book. I do hope he gets the playlist some decent remakes, though. Beaver Creek had quite a few good remakes, the main ones being Noble Creek by TheBlazeJp and Battle Canyon by Noxiw. I hope to see remakes in this Classic playlist. This will make it literally 'classic'. I kinda hope they require the Noble Map Pack, considering how good a Lockout remake ash55 created. Remakes would complete this playlist.
Maps like Elongation and Colossus are hard to replicate due to the absence of the belts. Can't wait to hear info about the maps he is including...
I really don't see why all the hype for Classic. Honestly, it seems like MLG with a few changes played on forged maps. I've also heard that grenades and snipers are going to be really powerful. Maybe I'll like it, but right now it doesn't look all that great.
Grenades are going to be a problem in that playlist. I can already see that. But what do you mean 'MLG with a few changes'? MLG has no community maps other than a couple recently added ones, and this one is likely to have remakes of maps in it. I don't see why there is so little hype for it, other than a couple hundred people getting excited for it.
I'm super stoked for this playlist, but I think 120 speed might be a little excessive. Just my opinion. I think 110 with the new jump height would've felt more realistic.
I played a remake of Construct last night that was completely lag free, and was as aesthetically close to construct as is possible to get it. So its possible. As for larger maps, manipulating scenery thats already there is a good place to start. If the playlist contains no remakes, however, I probably won't play it much. If it does contain remakes, It'll become my most played playlist.
