Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details StokeLAN took place on the 12th - 13th February '11 This is the one game play I salvaged. C&C? Edit - Can you embed silverlight on this forum?
My net sucks so it won't load past the 10 minute mark at which there were no caps, so bear in mind that this doesn't take account of how the game finishes. Main point would be that your entire team were waaayy too passive. If you were playing a Slayer game then your playstyle would have been more appropriate, but you failed to take advantage of two or even 3 downs and make a push, instead just using it to regroup and sometimes secure ring control. With the 10 second respawn times you need to take advantage of these 2 downs to push and either thoroughly secure the enemy side or make a grab, otherwise when you do make a push on flag you encounter the problem that I saw in this game, the enemy has respawned and you don't even get it down their ramp. Even when you guys did make a push, it wasn't really coordinated or aggressive enough, one guy ducking in to their base when the other 2 or 3 are in ring, and 3 or even 4 enemies are up isn't really going to work out. It can be useful as a distraction grab to throw the enemies off when you're pushed, and very occasionally these can be converted if you really turn the situation around and put the opponents on the back foot, but tbh having a guy in behind the enemies at that stage would have been much better used to flank them and enable a concerted push from your whole team instead of just chilling in ring. A basic cap strategy should involve getting 2 or 3 down, then sending your guys to try and control their street/snipe and car, with one guy going to their objective and another just running around their side of the map trying to cause as much havok as possible, generally in their bonfire, court of rocks area (keeping an eye on ring spawns is also key). Car and street should be watching rocks and court respectively to catch respawners, and the side that isn't called out with spawners should be where the flag guy runs back to your base, or along bottom mid if you prefer that way, though the run from ramp to bonfire leaves you pretty open to both sets of spawners. Basically, be more aggressive but do it together, try to move more as a concerted unit and take advantage of numbers. At 8:10 (rendered film time) for example, you were aggressive, but it wasn't in conjunction with your team and the enemy weren't on respawn so you got triple teamed and lost your Sniper, a key advantage in this game. Snipers should try and keep height if possible, stick to cars, streets and ring 2, running underneath their car leaves you really open without good escape routes, and their rock spawns have an easy time rushing you. On the plus side, your DMR shot was decent. Your aim was good and your pacing was very considered too, tbh you could probably have afforded to be a little more spammy since it was LAN, but I get that it's hard to adjust from online habits and your pacing attitude will do you well on XBL for sure. Your Sniper was a little weaker, but you kept a cool head and didn't just spam shots like many do, work on your twitch reflex a little with it and you'll be a really solid sniper. Your movement seemed good as well, if a little unfocused at times. Despite making quite a few ill advised pushes, your instinctive movement seems good and you took interesting routes/escaped well. Your individual skill seems much stronger than your integrated team approach, so work on this latter aspect and try to be more of a seamless cog in the machine rather than 1 guy amongst 3 others. However, this isn't a direct criticism of you over your 3 team mates, as a whole you lacked aggressive coordination, and it's not really possible for one guy to counteract this. You were more coordinated in the passive sense, when you regrouped and countered enemy pushes on your side then you moved much better, but you didn't commit to pushing their side as a group.
Wow thanks wasn't expecting such a review! As for the team I agree completely, we formed on the day of the LAN so we had no idea how to work together :\ You seem to know a lot so I'm taking a lot from what you posted. Cheers mate +rep? haha
Yeah I know what you mean about playing with new players, it's hard to have a cohesive and fast team play style when you lack familiarity with your team mates. I rely a lot on chemistry with my team mates to play with confidence, let alone to do well, so I totally see where you're coming from. I'm far from anything special tbh, I find it's a lot easier to give thoughts on other people's gameplay rather than fix the problems in my own, even if the mistakes made in both instances are exactly the same. Glad you found my post useful, and you are most welcome, it's good to see a bit more discussion in this section, let alone the term LAN even mentioned .
Haha yeah, MLG is a pretty dead subject around here We should play sometime, I'll add you when I get back from work if you wanna play some v3 customs or playlist. x
