Onyx Battle begins with unjust magnitude. Onyx is a gigantic Asymmetric battlefield made for massive 8v8 carnage. The backstory behind Onyx is that it is a huge Spartan Training complex which covers all types of scale battles to better prepare Spartans for the different situations they may come across when fighting the Covenant. The map is set on an island setting, with water surrounding the complex. It features 2 Scorpion tanks, 2 Warthogs, 2 ghosts, and 1 Neutral Banshee. Think of a bastard child between Sandtrap, Last Resort, and Narrows. [bungievid]14517507[/bungievid] This map plays best with Big Team DMRs, Classic Big Team Slayer DMRs, Bro Slayer, and 1 Flag CTF. Other gametypes are not supported due to Object limit having been reached Below you will find the weapon palette as well as a handful of pictures! Download, rate, and lemme know what you guys think! The budget ran and couldn't support more game types... Might I suggest making two versions of the map? that way each could support different games? Anyways its a fantastic map and it has my download. Great job!
I suppose if one really wanted, they could just delete all the weapons and vehciles and set it up for Infection, but i could also make a variant to support other gametypes. The map is so big though, so it ran out of budget. It plays much better with Flag and Slayer gametypes though, just sayin'
after running through in forge on the map i was impressed. It supports all play types. vehicle, long range, medium, and even some close range in the rock areas. My only concern is the large amount of flickering or flashing with the overlapping pieces from the red and blue initial spawns. Either way, great job!
Any flickering you are experiencing is because you are in Forge mode. There should be no flickering when playing Custom games on it And yup, it is a BTB map designed to cater to just about every style of play. Close range in the rocky hills and the Shotgun/hammer base, long range pretty much everywhere, vehicle combat, air-vehicle combat, DMR battles, and other forms of Infantry combat.
Ahh excellent, love this site; learn something new every day Well keep up the good work, most BTB maps get boring but this looks like it would be a lot of fun. Ill be keepin an eye out for more of your maps lol
If you could see me, you'd see my impressed face. Very very good effort really capturing what BTB should be all about. However, screen frame rate is a concern. Even flying around solo in a banshee in a custom game there were noticable judders. With 16 players, explosions, split screen players etc, I can imagine serious slow-down issues. Not a great deal you can do about it due to the ambitious nature of the map however. I don't think you need all those DMRs and needle rifles since BTB has DMR starts. lose all but about 4 of each and use the extra objects to set up more game types.
Yea after doing some BTB testing with it, we came across several areas that induced screen lag. I will be updating this in a future update hopefully with less screen lag and some more gametypes supported. I might condense the map up a bit so less objects are used. As a side note, the map is extremely open and there are a lot of vehicles. I wanted players to always have access to a DMR or Needle Rifle so they could defend themselves, especially IF ARs are played on the map. I could go with reducing the total amount, but i mainly wanted DMRs and NRs to be readily available as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback though
I must say, as an an avid Sandtrap fan, this map is beautiful, however I assume there is a great deal of frame rate lag, which is highly disappointing. Brilliant designs anyhow.
