Orbit is a 2-base one-way symmetrical arena map. Although it is not a Midship remake, it is still unmistakably similar to the Halo 2 beauty we all miss. There are twists to the design that I've always been interested in toying with. For example, making P1 behind P2 instead of in front of it... Or creating another exit route out of the bottom of the bases. That exit route being a short tunnel going underneath car.

The map serves the purpose it's supposed to. It is fast paced and all about the DMR. The only other things you can find on this map besides the DMR/NR are the 2 Pistols and the Evade. The map plays FFA, TS, CTF, Oddball, Assault, and KotH. It will feel just like you're playing Midship, except revamped to keep it fresh and change map movement a little bit.

There are two versions of the map: A version that has the purple lights on it to make it feel more... purpley.... :D And then another version without the lights in order to cut-down on frame-rate problems (which haven't been a problem yet even with the lights).

Gametypes: FFA, Team Slayer, Capture the Flag, Assault, Oddball, and King of the Hill

    Weapons and Grenades:
    - 4x DMR
    - 1x NR
    - 2x Pistol
    - 4x Plasma Grenade
    - 4x Frag Grenade
    - 1x Evade

Orbit - 5v5 Oddball Gameplay (Great set-ups at the end of game)

I'll get screenshots up in a bit. For now, there are only gameplay videos... which I feel are better though =).

Tell me if you guys think you like it enough that you would want me to make a version with a more diverse weapon set.

The videos are okay but I think more people will be drawn into this post if you show some screenshots as well.

Wow, this map looks great. I love how you have a very similar fight space as midship, with bases on the outside, and the central high ground that used to hold the sword. getting higher ground was essential playing midship, and I see that element of gameplay here. I also liked the jumps and ease of movement. The most interesting thing I see is that the center platform and other pillars clutter up the long sightlines, forcing you to move about for clear confrontation. On the other hand, there were many instances where you shot around the obstacles , finishing people off. I will love this!

While this is true, you do a good job of displaying your map in the opening rush of each vid.

My first impression was that this is the worst orbital remake ever. After that I thought it was the worst midship remake ever. THEN after that I realized that it was the BEST midship inspired maps EVER. I love how you stayed true to midship while still making it playable with sprint and other AA's. The aspects you added were great as well and I didn't notice any frame rate in the videos either! This map is awesome, great job.

Good map bro. Really captured all the good parts of your inspiration :) One thing that I would change, though, is P3 (or where P3 was on Midship). A place like that should leave you more vulnerable to the rest of the map. Other than that, though, nice map

On topic, the map looks great. I loved this map (who didn't) and I like some of the changes you've made. The only thing I don't care for is the flooring in the bases, but that's very minor. I'm glad you made a video because it typically helps people understand the video. In this case, most people are familiar with the layout but it was still nice to watch.

Overall, good job with the map. I'll have to run some games on this at some point.

    Best regards

I'm putting the screenies on photobucket right now. They should be up in under 30 minutes.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. =)

And nevermind... they're under site maintenance. Fail...
